Forager Lemon Cashewgurt: Lemon (and perhaps citrus more generally) just never seems to work as well as other fruit-flavored yogurt. Its hydrous pulp segments risk watering down the yogurt, and their omission consequently leaves little room for texture. Though zest has the potential to provide a freshness that cuts through a creamy yogurt base, it can, in combination, lead to an overwhelmingly acidic and tart flavor. Rather than seeing lemon standing on its own, I'd like to see more yogurt incorporating lemon as a... (read more) 2.5/5.0

Forager Vanilla Cashewgurt: This non-dairy yogurt made with cashew milk had a much thinner consistency than regular yogurt. It’s almost like a non-cream-based soup in terms of viscosity. Texture aside, the flavor is decent, but not particularly memorable. You might even say it was a bit vanilla. 3.0/5.0

Green Mountain Creamery Pumpkin Pie Greek Lowfat Yogurt: The Park Slope Food Coop has some of the more extensive yogurt selection I've seen in any grocery store, even beyond Berkeley Bowl. Once in a while, I'll grab a brand I haven't reviewed before, and on my last trip, I grabbed this seasonal pumpkin pie flavor from Vermont-based Green Mountain Creamery. Unfortunately, the yogurt was kind of bland in its expected flavor profile - the texture was a bit loose for greek yogurt and the spiced flavor was too cinnamon-y for my taste. I wish it taste... Green Mountain Yogurt blueberry Greek yogurt: Surprisingly rich for 0% fat but also less thick than other Greek yogurts as a result. Blueberry flavor is not bad but leaves an odd aftertaste. Serving size is big enough for a filling breakfast. 3.0/5.0

Gregoire Homemade granola with yogurt: One of the breakfast items offered at the excellent takeaway restaurant Gregoire in Berkeley is yogurt (Fage, I believe) served with homemade granola. Buttery, sweet, crunchy, and chewy, the granola contains a mix of toasted oats, nuts, seeds, and dried berries. It's very well balanced and something I wish I could make at home but probably would never take the time to do, which is why I especially appreciate it when others do it right! 4.0/5.0

Grom Strawberry and yogurt popsicle: Popsicle half dipped in a tangy yogurt followed by freshly sweet strawberry. Like their ice cream, the popsicle uses no artificial ingredients. I preferred the strawberry half, but the yogurt became more pleasantly tart the more I ate it. Purchased from their West Village shop. 3.5/5.0
