Outstanding Foods Pig Out Pigless Bacon Chips: Everything about the packaging of Pig Out snacks screams bacon, from the pig mascot to the photograph of bacon-looking chips (enlarged for texture) – it's only upon closer inspection that you see that these chips are completely plant-based, and only in the ingredients list is the predominant ingredient (mushrooms) listed. It's an interesting choice to go for the bacon-loving consumer, rather than the vegetarian craving meat. The chips are kind of like Terra sweet potato chips in texture; t... (read more) 1.5/5.0

Snikkidy Organic Mac N' Cheese Baked Puffs: Formed by two moms who wanted snacks they felt good giving their kids, Snikiddy is extremely on brand for the Park Slope Food Coop. The cheese puffs are organic, contain no high fructose corn syrup, no hydrogenated oils, and no GMO ingredients. Upon first taste, they seemed pretty bland to be honest, with a very light cheese flavor that tasted like health food. After a few more pieces, the cheese factor slightly cumulated to the point that it was vaguely reminiscent of mac and cheese, but... (read more) 3.0/5.0

Michel et Augustin Milk chocolate and melt caramel shortbread cookie squares: About the size of a candy bar, this snack consists of four 1.5" square-shaped shortbread cookies, each with a generous milk chocolate well and a thin layer of stretchy salted caramel sandwiched underneath. Definitely one of the best store-bought cookies I've ever purchased. The shortbread have a perfect snap, and the balance of sweet and savory is ideal. Even though the caramel is thin, it has a rich, buttery flavor and flakes of salt that add texture. The cookies are made in France and ... (read more) 4.5/5.0

Plant Snacks Vegan Cheddar Cassava Root Chips: Cassava root seems like an unusual choice for a snack, but then again other root vegetables like potatoes, sweet potatoes, and beets have all found their way into our snack aisle. These chips are less thick than pita chips and more crispy than Wheat Things; they're dusted with a vegan cheddar powder that also appears to be worked into the cracker itself. You could tell it was not milk-based cheddar, yet it still had a satisfying savory flavor, in the same way that vegan mac and cheese can t... (read more) 3.5/5.0

Clio Strawberry Greek Yogurt Bar: This is a really intriguing take on a chocolate bar alternative, consisting of a solid strawberry-flavored greek yogurt filling (its texture set somewhere between nougat and frozen yogurt as its refrigerated, but not frozen) coated with a thin shell of chocolate. Though it's fairly high in saturated fat (6g), it's overall healthier than a normal chocolate bar, with less sugar (10g sugar) and an impressive amount of nutrients (8g of protein, and over 100% of your daily recommended Vitamin C)... Quinn's Dark chocolate's peanut filled pretzels: These pretzel nuggets are much better than any I've had before; the pretzels are just salted enough and act as a thin shell around a mostly dark chocolate filling that has just a hint of peanut. The pretzel has a much richer flavor grain flavor than others I've had, and because it's thinner, the overall consistency of each nugget is more crispy than crunchy. Would buy again. 3.5/5.0
