Great Northern Food Hall Seabuckthorn Lemonade: We celebrated Fourth of July (a bit behind on reviews...) with Danish dogs at the Great Northern Food Hall, a Nordic food court in Grand Central Terminal (NYC) serving everything from open faced sandwiches to pastries to specialty drinks. To accompany the (tasty) hot dogs, I purchased a Seabuckthorn lemonade, which had a mostly opaque orange color that could easily be mistaken for orange juice save for the orange seabuckthorn berries floating on top. Acidic and slightly sour, it was a refr... (read more) 4.0/5.0

Perhaps this speaks to the freshness of the fruit, but a milder drink would be more palatable. It tastes a bit different than normal cider, but if I hadn't seen the label, it would have been hard to guess it was blueberry flavored. 2.5/5.0

Clean raspberry and blueberry flavor. A rare snack I can find no fault with. Part of Morgensterns monthly sorbae flavor rotation. Available for the month of July. 5.0/5.0

We braved the line of Instagram fanatics for 20 minutes in advance of the soft serve window opening at 11am at the West Village Dominique Ansel Kitchen. Admittedly, it's as photogenic as any Ansel dessert, with a mountainous swirl of glistening orange-pink sorbet. The soft serve itself had a concentrated melon flavor and great textu... My favorite was the green apple sorbet, which had always been fantastic (a tip: you can go across the street and order it any time at the dessert club). I've been told it has to be made fresh consistently since the vivid green color fades once it starts to oxidize. The truffle ice cream had a very potent, savory flavor. Interesting but not what I pers... (read more) 4.0/5.0

Located directly next to Katz's, the place has a bit of a clinical science lab vibe, with chemical abbreviations for each flavor and minimalist furnishings. The shop has a distinctly neutral scent. I think it's because there are no toppings, which I appreciated. It's really solely about the gelato here. I shared four different flavors, a... (read more) 5.0/5.0
