Kung Fu Tea Lychee tea with boba and lychee jelly: Purchased from the Kung Fu Tea in Edison, NJ, this tea drink was far too sweet despite specifying 25% sweetness. The boba was also disappointingly soft. The jelly, though, had a decently firm bite. It's too bad there is so much variability with drinks from this chain. 2.0/5.0

Looking for Chai Milk tea with grass jelly: There’s a Taiwanese restaurant In Bellevue named Looking for Chai where everyone speaks Mandarin, photographs of Taipei 101 line the wall, and they have a handwritten menu of about 30 tea drinks written in traditional Chinese before their English translations. When I ordered a milk tea with grass jelly, I realized I had forgotten to specify the sweetness. But the tea was perfect, with an deep herbal flavor barely sweetened and slippery grass jelly that verges on medicinal but exactly as you ... (read more) 5.0/5.0

Lotte Yogurt Jelly: These are the Yakult-style gummy equivalent to Haribo cola gummies. They come in small snack-size packaging that contains about ~2 servings. Each gummy is shaped like the squat yogurt-drinks many asian kids had growing up. Definitely on the sweet side, but pretty true to the flavor of Yakult. 3.0/5.0

Mango Mango Mango Sampler: Purchased from the St. Mark's location of asian-dessert-chain Mango Mango, this platter contains a sampling of three different desserts. The first was starchy and slightly too firm glutinous rice balls paired with fresh mango fruit (the latter of which was ripe and sweet). The next was lychee jelly (very sweet and similar to the type you would expect to be at the bottom of a bubble tea) and a scoop of mango ice cream, which was a tad creamy and did not tasting distinctively of mango. The ... (read more) 3.5/5.0

Mr. Wish Kiwi slush with lychee jelly: My mouth was burning after consuming an abnormally spicy bowl of noodle soup at the New World Mall. Despite the numerous bubble tea stands to choose from at the basement food court, I opted to go across the street to Mr. Wish, a cash-only tea shop that has especially good fruit slushies. The kiwi slush with lychee jelly was exactly what I needed: crisp and refreshing, tart yet sweet. The perfect palate cleanser. Consistency is just right so that you can drink the entire cup without finding ... (read more) 4.5/5.0

Otsuka Match Jelly: Match Jelly is a popular citrus soda that's the color of electric yellow Gatorade and is similarly fortified with "nutrition" like Vitamin B6, Niacin, and Vitamin C. I haven't actually had Match soda before, but it's a standard vending machine staple. While vending machines have full-sized bottles, they also usually have a small selection of half-size containers, which I like to buy when I'm thirsty but not wanting more than a single serving. I purchased this "jelly" version of Match f... (read more) 4.0/5.0
