Otsuka Match Jelly: Match Jelly is a popular citrus soda that's the color of electric yellow Gatorade and is similarly fortified with "nutrition" like Vitamin B6, Niacin, and Vitamin C. I haven't actually had Match soda before, but it's a standard vending machine staple. While vending machines have full-sized bottles, they also usually have a small selection of half-size containers, which I like to buy when I'm thirsty but not wanting more than a single serving. I purchased this "jelly" version of Match from a vending machine at 130¥; you're meant to shake it to distribute the jelly contents throughout the drink. It's kind of hard to describe the texture of the jelly, which is much softer than aloe and reminds me almost of having a thick jam in your drink. While that might not sound particularly appetizing, I found it to be surprisingly delightful, and the jelly was also carbonated which gave it an unexpected zing. I definitely recommend trying this drink if you come across it, as it's unlike anything you'd get in the US! 4.0/5.0
