T. K. Foods Salted Egg Yolk Cookies: When my parents shared these Chinese salted egg yolk cookies with me and told me they were available at Costco, I was skeptical. Sure, Costco has a lot of Asian customers, but the idea of salted eggs as a sweet snack didn't strike me as having mass appeal. Fundamentally, though, eggs are a primary component of many baked goods, so if you think about it, the idea of a salted egg-based treat doesn't seem so foreign. These individually wrapped biscuits are flaky and buttery, easy yielding and c... (read more) 4.0/5.0

Vitasoy Soymilk: Really love this soymilk drink, which I had growing up. It tastes like a dessert version of soybeans - much more bean flavor than normal soymilk, but still on the sweet side. Especially good paired with spicy foods. Also, great packaging. 4.0/5.0

Nairn's Chocolate chip oat grahams: Lightly sweetened Scottish biscuits. The box contains four packs of individually wrapped snack packs (each with four oval-shaped biscuits). They're like Belvita breakfast crackers, but good - the oats maintain some of their texture even in biscuit form, and the chocolate flavor is just enough to feel like a treat. Strikes a balance between healthy and tasty. 4.0/5.0

Deep River Snacks New York Spicy Dill Pickle Potato Chips: Really love a classic kettle cooked potato chips, and this pickle flavored one feels like it's meant to be eaten alongside a freshly made deli sandwich. I got it in a train station convenience store, so I just ate them on their own, which was still super tasty. Concentrated dill flavor; crispy and substantial; seasoned just right. 4.0/5.0

Clio Strawberry Greek Yogurt Bar: This is a really intriguing take on a chocolate bar alternative, consisting of a solid strawberry-flavored greek yogurt filling (its texture set somewhere between nougat and frozen yogurt as its refrigerated, but not frozen) coated with a thin shell of chocolate. Though it's fairly high in saturated fat (6g), it's overall healthier than a normal chocolate bar, with less sugar (10g sugar) and an impressive amount of nutrients (8g of protein, and over 100% of your daily recommended Vitamin C)... Yifang Taiwanese Fruit Tea Lugu Oolong Tea: My good friend and bubble-tea expert Mace recommended this Bay Area spot specializing in Taiwanese fruit teas. Yifang's small to-go shop is adjacent to Berkeley's campus and certainly would have become my go-to spot if I stilled lived there. Their Lugu Oolong tea was super refreshing and clean, with a floral oolong flavor followed by a hint of peach. I added the aiyu jelly, which was well worth it; lightly sweetened, it had a slippery texture with just the right amount of gelatin. Luckily,... (read more) 4.0/5.0
