Eat Me Cardamom Rose Pistachio Halva Dairy-Free Ice Cream: Coconut-based ice cream I purchased from the Park Slope Food Coop, from a women-owned independent company based in Rochester, New York. Combines some of my favorite flavors in an unexpected mix. The ice cream is smooth and creamy and contains bits of crunchy halva, which adds a delicious slightly savory sesame kick. Nutty, sweet, and floral. Definitely up for trying their other flavors after this introduction. 4.0/5.0

Lay’s Cucumber Potato Chips: One thing I find overwhelming but also awe-inspiring is that no matter how hard I try, I will never be able to try every flavor of Lay’s potato chips. These cucumber-flavored chips were purchased at an Asian grocery store and originate from China. Perhaps this is unsurprising, as crushed cucumbers, flavored with salt and vinegar, are a perennial side dish in Chinese restaurants. Milk Bar Apple Pie Soft Serve: While I generally find many items at Christina Tosi’s Milk Bar to be overly sweet, one thing that I’ve always loved is their soft serve. The cereal milk soft serve, in particular, is very well judged. This apple pie soft serve, available at the Flagship Milk Bar, is another great example. The tartness is surprisingly great, and the texture is perfectly smooth - more sorbet-like than ice-cream-like. Malk Organics Cold Pressed Almond Milk: I purchased this bottle from the refrigerated dairy section at the Park Slope Food Co-op, fairly unexplored territory for me as I usually buy un-refrigerated non-dairy milk. The organic drink contains just 3 ingredients: water, sprouted almonds, and salt. According to the packaging, the almonds are sprouted overnight, blended with water and salt, and then cold pressed to create the beverage.
