Clio Honey Greek Yogurt Bar: I've tried two other flavors of this chocolate-coated yogurt bar (hazelnut and strawberry), and this honey-flavored one falls squarely between the two in ranking. The interior of the yogurt bar is set, almost nougat-like in texture, and tastes vaguely of caramel-like. It's the closest to a candy-bar in overall flavor and texture, with its thin dark chocolate shell that easily cracks when you bite into it. I recommend this one and the strawberry flavor (which is still my favorite). Purchas... (read more) 3.5/5.0

Core Bar Lemon poppy seed overnight oat bar: A granola bar you purchase from the refrigerated section, this surprisingly fresh take falls somewhere between a traditional granola bar and a Power Bar in texture. Oats, dates, chia seeds, and almonds are loosely combined to form a chewy bar that eats more like a breakfast bar or cookie than a more dense bar like a Cliff Bar or Luna Bar. It also contains probiotics and 7g of fiber, along with 0 added sugar (it has 9g of natural sugar, which feels just right). The tart lemon flavor was al... (read more) 3.5/5.0

Dream Pretzels Sesame Pressels: Baked pretzel chips, shaped like flat mini bagels and golden brown at the edges. Not very seasoned on their own, so the predominant flavor comes from the nuttiness of the white sesame seeds. The packaging is upfront about this, with a label indicating it has 35% less sodium this regular pretzels. They beg to be eaten with a dip, and they taste particularly good with hummus. Purchased at the Park Slope Coop. 3.0/5.0

Eat Me Cardamom Rose Pistachio Halva Dairy-Free Ice Cream: Coconut-based ice cream I purchased from the Park Slope Food Coop, from a women-owned independent company based in Rochester, New York. Combines some of my favorite flavors in an unexpected mix. The ice cream is smooth and creamy and contains bits of crunchy halva, which adds a delicious slightly savory sesame kick. Nutty, sweet, and floral. Definitely up for trying their other flavors after this introduction. 4.0/5.0

Eat Me Golden Chai Ice Cream: Another solid pint of coconut-milk-based dairy-free ice cream from Rochester-based Eat Me Ice Cream. This one has a swirl of orange and yellow ice cream flavored with turmeric, ginger, cardamom, and cinnamon. As far as chai ice creams go, this is definitely one of the better ones I've had. I'm a little worried about the nutrition facts, since it's coconut-based, but the label is conveniently missing the label, so I could just enjoy it for the flavor! Echo Farm Puddings Heidi's Spiced Pumpkin: Made with whole milk, this seasonal pudding has a texture a bit looser than I would expect (almost like non-Greek yogurt), spiced with a pumpkin-pie mix of cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and clove. It's very sweet, with 27g of sugar in a cup. It feels homely and understated, in that you know exactly what you're getting; as a result, it isn't especially memorable. 3.0/5.0
