Shribark Toasted Coconut Caramel Snack: Up to this point, I've avoided this brand of snack from the Media Lab Leanbox, fearing that it was another questionable health-food snack. Lacking alternatives, though, I decided to purchase the bar and was pleasantly surprised. The texture is very good, with a sweet caramel that binds together the granola and seeds that comprise the bar. It was very filling and leaned more towards the candy end of snack bars. Tao Kai Noi Tom Yum Goong seaweed snack: AAn umami bomb. Long strips of crispy seaweed (dehydrated?) with prominent lime and tomato flavor. Contains shrimp powder. On the salty side, but otherwise surprisingly addictive. Too bad the bag only has 2 servings. From Thailand. 3.5/5.0

Trader Joe's peanut butter & jelly nonfat Greek yogurt: A unique yogurt flavor I haven't seen from another brand. The yogurt captures the essence of peanut butter and jelly in a surprisingly faithful way. So much so that I wanted a glass of milk afterward. The yogurt itself is thin and watery for Greek yogurt; not the best texture. Nonetheless, TJ's scores some points for originality here. 3.5/5.0

Trader Joe's popcorn in a pickle: This is a prime example of purchasing a novelty snack that had a glimmer of promise. Luckily, this one turned out worthwhile. The flavor is very distinctive, with a briny and herby (dill) flavor. I imagine this would go perfectly with a sandwich, burger, or hotdog. As a seasonal item, it definitely begs for a summer picnic or barbecue. Nonetheless, I enjoy eating it on its own but recognize that people who aren't big fans of pickles should steer clear. Luckily, I'm not one of them. 3.5/5.0

Tao Kae Noi kimchi flavored Super Crisp: This is the last of the Tao Kae Noi line of grilled seaweed snacks I had yet to try from my local Hmart. The umami-rich flavor has a great balance of savory and sweet. The spicy kimchi taste builds and lingers. A uniquely crispy and substantial seaweed snack. 3.5/5.0

Kasugai Squid Pea Snack: I expected this to be a wasabi pea snack but quickly discovered that pea is short for peanuts. Each crunchy rice ball contains a single peanut. The exterior is crispy and tastes a bit like shrimp crackers (the ingredients list cuttlefish). A bag contains two servings, which go quickly. 3.5/5.0
