Rabbit Rabbit Tea Japanese buckwheat milk tea with almond pudding: A caffeine-free option at bubble tea shop Rabbit Rabbit Tea, located at the edge of Union Square. It tasted more of milk than buckwheat, but it did have a familiar Asian breakfast porridge vibe to it, reminiscent of powdered grain packs you mix with hot water. The tea was so so, but the almond pudding was quite good - it had a distinctly non-dairy-milk nutty quality and a soft, slick texture. Overall, though, I probably wouldn't come back to Rabbit Rabbit gven the quality of this drink alone. 3.0/5.0

Coco Leaf Lavender milk tea with flan pudding: Coco Leaf is a Vietnamese dessert shop on Newbury street in Boston featuring colorful multilayer drinks with ingredients like pandan, longnan, and mungbean. I opted for a lighter milk tea with no added sugar, but with flan pudding (a contradiction, I know) to get a sense of their toppings. The milk tea had a rich, creamy flavor, an indication of higher quality milk, while the lavender was pleasantly light. The pudding was also good, with a slippery texture just set enough and tasting of bro... (read more) 3.5/5.0

Bao Tea House Rose pudding bao: A special Valentine's day menu item at Bao Tea House in the West Village, these buttery rose pudding baos have a custard-like filling somewhere between whipped cream and pudding. It's light in texture, but quite rich in flavor and tastes deeply of rose On top is a satisfying crumble coating. Overall, the dessert stands out to me with its combination of baked and creamy textures, but it's on the rich side altogether. 3.5/5.0

365 Chocolate Almond Pudding: I usually go straight to the snack aisle to look for new snacks to try, but I came across these pudding cups accidentally while walking through the dairy aisle at Whole Foods. While they are overly sweet (20g of sugar per cup), the flavor is great – creamy and nutty with a satisfyingly rich cocoa flavor. The texture is a little more set than your typical pudding cup, which I personally prefer. If it were less sweet, this would be my go-to snack on the rare case I'm looking for a chocolate... Meet Fresh Sweet Potato Tofu Pudding: Meet Fresh is a sweets shop from Taiwan serving a variety of hot and cold desserts combining classic toppings such as mung bean, taro, and barley, along with glutinous rice balls, boba, and other chewy treats. Their first New York City location is around the corner from Cooper Union. I ordered the chilled version of their tofu pudding with sweet potato, which came with a small mound of ice, all swimming in a lightly-sweetened honey water. The sweet potatoes came in homely, large chunks, a... (read more) 2.5/5.0

Chia pod Vanilla bean chia pudding: Chia seed pudding that contains a handy mini spoon and tastes of vanilla and cinnamon equally. Thick consistency that may be a turn off for those used to pudding packs but totally normal for people familiar with chia seed pudding. Overall, a sweet and well balanced snack. 3.5/5.0
