Puffworks Peanut butter puffs: I expected these corn puffs to be coated in a dry peanut butter powder, but the coating was surprisingly more like paste. That made them a little more challenging to eat, as they leave your fingers slightly sticky. The peanut butter is neither sweet nor savory and was frankly bland. The snack coats your mouth just like peanut butter does, so it also begs to be eaten with a drink. Purchased from Fairway. 2.5/5.0

I had only ever had Hotteok once from a boxed mix from HMart, and not surprisingly, this donut interpretation from Korean ramen noodle shop Jeju Noodle Bar was much better. The dough had a great consistency, with a crisp griddled-like exterior and soft interior filled with a sweet crushed peanuts mix. Topped with a berry-jelly syrup and pistach... (read more) 3.5/5.0

There are some halved roasted peanuts mixed in too. I don’t really like that it falls in this no-mans-land as neither a sweet nor salty snack. And size wise, it’s impractical to eat as a cereal, yet not as substantial as eating a granola bar. A fairly forgettable snack from Trader Joe’s. 2.5/5.0

A potentially more convenient option if you prefer bites to bars, but also more difficult to keep track of portioning. The flavor is pretty good but expected, reminding me of a chewier version of Quaker Oats chocolate peanut butter granola bars. Surprisingly, it tastes a little bit salty. Great job on the packaging though (n... (read more) 3.0/5.0

That’s the case with this 2-per-serving snack from Trader Joe’s consisting of a soft mix of dried fruit, nuts, and seeds. The usual suspects of natural health snacks are present (chia seeds and coconut). They are pretty high in sugar given the size but don’t have any added sugar. Tastes predominantly of dates, though you also get a bit of berry too. Decent as far as this type of product... (read more) 3.0/5.0

I decided it wasn’t worth the wait, but today, I still had ice cream on my mind, so I stopped by Humphrey Slocombe in the Ferry Building and purchased a $4.50 scoop of peanut butter fudge ripple ice cream. It was creamy and rich in a slightly moorish sort of way, with a classic Americana flavor more peanut butter than chocola... (read more) 3.5/5.0
