Heaven & Earth Taro Chips: Kind of like Terra blue chips, these taro chips eat like they're one-level up from normal potato chips but really are just appealing to those who love potato chips but feel too guilty to eat Lay's. They consist of jus a few ingredients: taro, palm oil, and salt, and taste mostly of oil and salt; the chips are sliced impressively thin and have a crispy texture. Overall, tasty but a bit expected. 3.0/5.0

Edward & Sons Organic Ginger Culinary Juice: To be fair, this product is labelled as a culinary juice, rather than regular juice you would drink on its own. The label suggests adding it to soups, smoothies, and sauces. I decided to try it straight out of the bottle, thinking it was more of a mixer than a barebones ingredient. The ginger juice is basically exactly as it sounds, tasting of boiled down ginger that's been strained to produce a slightly milk, beige liquid the color of an iced coffee. Has a decent spicy aftertaste. It h... (read more) 2.5/5.0

Green Mountain Creamery Pumpkin Pie Greek Lowfat Yogurt: The Park Slope Food Coop has some of the more extensive yogurt selection I've seen in any grocery store, even beyond Berkeley Bowl. Once in a while, I'll grab a brand I haven't reviewed before, and on my last trip, I grabbed this seasonal pumpkin pie flavor from Vermont-based Green Mountain Creamery. Unfortunately, the yogurt was kind of bland in its expected flavor profile - the texture was a bit loose for greek yogurt and the spiced flavor was too cinnamon-y for my taste. I wish it taste... Natural Nectar Mediterranean crackers: These are plain snack crackers flavored simply with extra virgin olive oil. According to the package, they are made by bakers in Greece. Overall, there isn't anything particularly remarkable about them - they are a bit better than average, but not by much. 2.5/5.0

Mi-Del Maple Ginger Cremes: I bought these from the seasonal / new section at the Park Slope Food Co-op because I love ginger. The sandwich cookies are half chocolate, half vanilla and contain a potently sweet maple ginger filling that smells mostly of maple and tastes mostly of sugar. There is some ginger in there, but just a little. 2.5/5.0

Outstanding Foods Pig Out Pigless Bacon Chips: Everything about the packaging of Pig Out snacks screams bacon, from the pig mascot to the photograph of bacon-looking chips (enlarged for texture) – it's only upon closer inspection that you see that these chips are completely plant-based, and only in the ingredients list is the predominant ingredient (mushrooms) listed. It's an interesting choice to go for the bacon-loving consumer, rather than the vegetarian craving meat. The chips are kind of like Terra sweet potato chips in texture; t... (read more) 1.5/5.0
