Hmart dried squid slices: : much less sugary and seasoned than packaged dried squid snacks. Has a subtle and natural seafood flavor. Chewier than I expected. 3.0/5.0

Lotte Choco Pie: Chocolate covered nostalgia. Unfortunately not as good as I recall from my childhood. Cake is quite dry, but the marshmallow filling is satisfying, and the chocolate is thin. I appreciate that it's lightly sweetened, with 10g of sugar in a pie (much less than you would find in an equivalent American snack). 3.0/5.0

Paldo Soo Jeong Gwa: A canned version of a traditional Korean punch called sujeonggwa, typically made with dried persimmons, spiced with cinnamon and ginger, and garnished with pine nuts. The can is smaller than normal at 8 oz, which is good since it's sweet enough that you wouldn't necessarily want to drink more. Pretty refreshing, but in small quantities. Strong cinnamon flavor. 3.0/5.0

Hyosung Food roasted seaweed: A recent conversation with @sharingnicely about kelp inspired me to buy a seaweed product on my latest trip to Hmart. I purchased a bag of Korean roasted seaweed, which I'm discovering comes in an alternative form of shredded, crispy seaweed mixed with sesame seeds (as opposed to sheets). I typically add this seaweed to rice to eat alongside a savory dish (the form of the snack doesn't lead itself to be eaten by hand). It's quite sweet on its own. Mixed with other foods, though, it adds text... (read more) 3.0/5.0

Korean wheat flour crackers: When I saw this bag on the shelf, it reminded me sachima, a Chinese pastry composed of soft fried flour, butter, and sugar (and often raisins). I purchased this bag to see what the Korean version would taste like. Despite the nutrition facts, which state that this contains 0g of sugar, the snack is very sweet. (Also, sugar is one of only four listed ingredients). The crackers are dense and quite hard to bite into, a factor that could be an issue for anyone with dental problems. Some pieces a... CW mini sesame snack: Basic sesame flavored biscuit that's more sweet than savory, but remains fairly neutral nonetheless. I purchased an alternative version of this snack in the past that comes in a plastic container and has a long stick form factor (similar to Pocky). I recommend that version over this one for its convenient packaging, though they taste exactly the same. 3.0/5.0
