Pringles Passport Flavours London Fish and Chips Flavor: I've encountered several versions of special edition snacks featuring flavors from abroad, including Lotte Choco Pie's "Around the World" series and Fanta's "Delicious Flavors of the World." I'm not sure if it's a response to the inability to travel these days or just a regular occurrence in a country that loves limited edition takes. But this tube from Pringles is the first of their "Passport Flavours" series featuring London's Fish and Chips. The chips taste a lot like Salt and Vinegar,... (read more) 3.0/5.0

Yamayoshi Ippudo Ramen Chips: These tonkotsu ramen pork-flavored chips caught my eye at my local Aeon grocery store / konbini before I even knew they were from the popular ramen chain Ippudo. The special flavor is in celebration of Ippudo's 35th birthday. I went to Ippudo about a decade ago in NYC, and a branch opened up in Berkeley right as I move away from the Bay Area. I knew that the restaurant inspired long lines in the US, but the other day, while walking through Ikebukuro in Tokyo, I stumbled upon a queue outsi... (read more) 4.5/5.0

Yotsuba Peach Yogurt: Japanese peaches taste a little different to me than American ones – they're sweeter and juicier, and good ones are highly coveted. This peach yogurt, made with Milk from Hokkaido, is good quality Japanese yogurt that any fan of peaches could enjoy. And luckily, I don't believe this is a seasonal flavor, so you don't need to worry that it'll soon be gone. 3.5/5.0

Yotsuba Berry Mix Yogurt: A fairly standard berry flavored yogurt containing a mix of strawberry, raspberry, and blueberry. The yogurt itself is creamy, with good acidity, but the flavor overall is nothing out of the ordinary. 3.0/5.0

Häagen-Dazs Chesnut Mochi Ice Cream: This is another Japanese-exclusive Haagen-Dazs flavor featuring white bean paste (shiro an) flavored ice cream topped with mochi and a chestnut sauce, all topped with powdered sugar. I found the texture of the mochi to be not quite as good as the soybean flavor I had previously – a little too sticky and not quite as chewy. The flavor overall was also generally sweetener and less memorable. That being said, without the soybean powder, it was definitely much easier to eat. The same unique c... (read more) 3.0/5.0

Häagen-Dazs Soybean Flour Brown Sugar Mochi Ice Cream (Hanamochi): The ice cream aisle in Japan consists largely of individual single-serving sized portions (kiddie-sized), whether for popsicles or regular ice cream. The most ubiquitous ice cream brand seems to be Häagen-Dazs, which has many exclusive Japanese flavors. Their Hanamochi series, originally introduced in 2015, features mochi-topped ice cream. The brown sugar soybean flour flavor I purchased has a peanut-colored powder that often coats traditional mochi treats. You ideally wait about 5 minut... (read more) 4.0/5.0
