CW mini sesame snack: Basic sesame flavored biscuit that's more sweet than savory, but remains fairly neutral nonetheless. I purchased an alternative version of this snack in the past that comes in a plastic container and has a long stick form factor (similar to Pocky). I recommend that version over this one for its convenient packaging, though they taste exactly the same. 3.0/5.0
cw korean crackers biscuit sesame hmart 3.0 mini snackKorean wheat flour crackers: When I saw this bag on the shelf, it reminded me sachima, a Chinese pastry composed of soft fried flour, butter, and sugar (and often raisins). I purchased this bag to see what the Korean version would taste like. Despite the nutrition facts, which state that this contains 0g of sugar, the snack is very sweet. (Also, sugar is one of only four listed ingredients). The crackers are dense and quite hard to bite into, a factor that could be an issue for anyone with dental problems. Some pieces a... I was intrigued by the east meets west flavor combining ranch and wasabi and found it works surprisingly well. The predominant flavor is wasabi, but it finishes with a slight tang and creaminess from the ranch. Once they are steamed past a particular threshold (㸐 minutes), though, the dough tightens up, wrinkling and hardening almost like it was under a vacuum. If anyone knows scientifically what causes this phenomena, I'd very much like to know. That is the most interesting thing about this frozen product, which is pretty average flavor-wise. 2.5/5.0

I recently purchased this Taiwanese lotus seed filled bun from Hmart and am a huge fan. The filling is very lightly sweetened (2g of sugar), and after about 10 minutes of steaming, the bread is pillowy yet slightly chewy. It's very difficult to find a brand of filled frozen buns that isn't insanely sweet, and these were also reasonably priced. 4.5/5.0
