Alasehir Sarikz strawberry flavored sparking water: Purchased from the Turkish grocery store Sevan in Watertown, this brand of sparkling water comes in an assortment of fruit flavors. The stout green bottle provides just enough beverage to accompany a small meal. Flavorwise, the strawberry drink reminded me of fruit-flavored paste sometimes used in dental cleaning. Beijing Tastes Pistachio Flavored Candies: This bag of candies from China contained individually wrapped candies, each covered in a thin striped coating with a candy-cane-like sheen. Inside are crispy layers with a caramelized, nutty flavor. The texture is a bit like a mass-manufactured candy mille feuille. I grew up eating this type of peanut candy growing up and have a nostalgic fondness for it. 3.5/5.0

Better Made Special Barbecue flavored potato chips: This brand of chips was founded in Detroit, which is where I ate a bag during a conference snack break. The chips are thin and slightly crispy but mostly saturated with oil. Seasoned with a sweet tangy vinegar-based powder, it has all the classic flavorings of a bbq chip. It falls squarely in the middle - just so so. 3.0/5.0

Cadbury Oreo flavored dairy milk chocolate bar: Supposedly British chocolate is less sweet than American, but I found this milk chocolate to be far too sweet. That combined with the already sugary Oreo results in an OD. Oreo bits are Oreos. 2.0/5.0

Calbee Grill-A-Corn Lobster in Supreme Soup Flavored Corn Chips: Purchased from Hong Kong Supermarket in Chinatown, these Cheetos-like corn snacks have a remarkably concentrated lobster flavor that I think most people could identify blind. The seafood flavor is immediately distinctive from other more popular seasonings you might stumble upon in Asian grocery stores, like squid or octopus. Chester's Cheese flavored Puffcorn: Long gone are the days when Chester the Cheetah starred in his own video game (see Too Cool to Fool, NES 1992). While he's still featured prominently on Cheetos packaging, his name is a relic of 90s/00s commercial spots of my childhood.
