Nature's Soy Matcha Soymilk: I first discovered this brand of asian soymilk at Hong Kong Supermarket in Chinatown but have since found it available at larger chains like Fairway. Since I enjoyed Nature's Soy's black sesame soymilk, I was looking forward to trying their matcha version. The soymilk is a thicker and grainier than most store-bought soymilk, which I don't mind because it tastes fresher. The matcha flavor, though, tastes too similar to matcha-flavored biscuits or cookies to me – overly sweet and hard to dr... (read more) 3.0/5.0

Teazzi Tea Shop Deep roasted oolong milk tea: Teazzi is a mostly to-go Taiwanese bubble tea shop located a block away from the southwest edge of Union Square Park in Manhattan. I would normally have ordered their house special, which includes an intriguing mix of oats and boba, but opted for a lighter option with their deep roasted oolong milk tea at 30% sweetness. Epsa Blood orange soda: This Greek soda comes in a sturdy glass bottle textured like Orangina's and marked with a distinct diamond emblem reminiscent of an astrological symbol. The soda is pretty sweet, but it's better balanced than Sunkist or Fanta and is flavored with black carrot juice. You could tell it's orange soda right away, yet the blood orange juice is distinctive and worthwhile. Purchased from Saloniki in Boston. 3.5/5.0

Sidral Mundet Apple soda: Bottled Mexican apple-flavored soda with a rich caramel color. Tastes remarkably of fresh Apple juice without being overly sweet. Lightly carbonated. I like it just S much as Apple Sidra, and more so than sparkling Martinelli's. 4.0/5.0

Brooklyn Crafted Mango ginger beer: I was hopeful about this fruit-flavored ginger beer, which I found at Brooklyn Fare in downtown Brooklyn. Purchased in a set of four bottles, the apricot-tinted drink contains bits of ginger sediments throughout. Sadly, the soda drank very sweet, reminding me of generic fruit-flavored gelatin snacks you can get from Asian grocery stores in the candy aisle. The ginger flavor was faintly present, mostly visually rather than in taste. 2.5/5.0

Fever Tree Bitter lemon: Intended to be a mixer, but I still like this lemon carbonated beverage on its own. Sharp acidic flavor, with a slight tonic-water after taste (contains quinine). Purchased in pack of four 6.8 fluid ounce containers. 4.0/5.0
