Daily Provisions Citrus Lemonade: There aren't many things more summery than a classic lemonade. Add a slice of orange, and it polishes off a well balanced sweet and tangy drink ideal for humid weather. From Daily Provisions near Union Square Park in NYC. 4.0/5.0

Heaven & Earth Carrot Ginger Juice: While this juice has a bright orange color, the dominant flavor is ginger. It probably falls about 65% in terms of potency, which is to say above average, but not as gingery as I personally like (though I like very gingery drinks) - more spiced than spicy. I wouldn't have guessed that it contained carrot juice if I had not seen its color. Overall, for a four-serving container costing $5, it was pretty good, but not worth purchasing again. 3.0/5.0

Aguas Frescas La Gotita Limonada con Chica: We purchased this drink after waiting two hours in line for goat tacos at the Taco Y Birria food truck in LA's Boyle Heights. I hadn't previously heard of the combination of chia seeds and lemonade, but it turns out it's a traditional Mexican drink called Chia Fresca. The massive 32 oz bottle, similar in size and just a tad lighter than my hand weights, contains 4 servings of lemonade with 44g of sugar each. Surprisingly, even with the high sugar content, it came off as a bit watered down... (read more) 2.5/5.0

Trader Joe's Cocoa Almond Cashew Beverage: Another one of Trader Joe's growing flavored non-dairy selection, this chocolate cashew drink instantly brought me back to my childhood with a taste reminiscent of a better quality Yoohoo. It's very thick, almost like melted ice cream. I enjoyed it mixed with chia seeds for chia seed pudding; by itself, it's a bit too rich for me. 3.0/5.0

East Imperial Grapefruit Soda: This small batch soda comes in an equally small mixer-sized 5 fl oz container, which is just a tad less than a bottle of Q soda or Fever Tree. Using ingredients from Asia and produced in New Zealand, the soda uses all natural ingredients and has a concentrated citrus flavor that tastes of pure grapefruit. The carbonation consists of small but impactful bubbles; if you take a sip and pause before imbibing, your mouth becomes awash with pops of fizz. The soda was created in collaboration wi... Mito Yuzu Cider: This bottle of citrus soda from Shimane Prefecture, Japan, was purchased from Japan Village's Sunrise Mart in Brooklyn. The soda tastes like a citrus-leaning ramune; quite sweet, but the acidic yuzu flavor helps balance it out. Half a bottle was the perfect amount for me, which is also oddly the serving size listed on the nutrition facts. Would probably pair really well with savory food. As far as citrus sodas I've had, this is definitely above average. 3.5/5.0
