Grocers Bottling Co Original Soda: I've reviewed over 100 types of sodas on Tasty Snacking, so it's very rare for me to come across a beverage that has a completely unique flavor. This original soda from Grocer's is one of them. It combines fruit and vegetable juice like apple, carrot, and hibiscus, with spices and herbs like juniper, coriander, bay leaf, and sage, all with a slightly spicy aftertaste from the addition of chili pepper extract. It has a slightly aniseedy flavor that's expertly balanced and surprisingly delic... (read more) 4.5/5.0

What Cheer Ginger Ale: From Byggyz sandwich shop (RIP) by way of Court St Grocers in Brooklyn, this ginger ale is super satisfying, with a robust spicy kick that any ginger lover will appreciate. In the top 5 of best ginger sodas I’ve had. Good level of carbonation too. 4.0/5.0

Bricolage Crunchy coconut curry beef chips: On principle, I typically don’t write reviews of snacks at sit-down restaurants (my current working definition of a snack is an item that by itself is not a full meal and can be eaten with one hand on the go - I know it doesn’t work for everything I review here, but that’s the best I’ve been able to come up with). But the crunchy coconut curry beef chips from Park Slope-based Vietnamese gastropub Bricolage are too special not to review. Razor-thin slices of beef come in a fun resealable pack... Culture Frozen yogurt with pina colada topping: Culture is a chain of NYC yogurt shops offering both frozen and regular yogurt in an ever-changing menu of flavors, with new menus every day. Their seasonal flavored yogurts are consistently excellent—concentrated and clean with a high quality tart yogurt base. I enjoyed their plain yogurt their pina colada seasonal topping, which had a sweet tropical drizzle and chewy coconut macaron-like bites. It was very tasty and had a great balance of sweet and tart. Look forward to an embarrassing num... (read more) 4.0/5.0

Mr. Wish Mango passion fruit babo drink with aloe: I was sad when I learned that Mr Wish in Flushing had closed, but the franchise has quickly expanded to many other locations in the city, so it’s actually easier to find now. I purchased a mango and passionfruit babo drink with aloe from the Williamsburg location. Originally I thought babo was a typo, but it’s a name they’ve given to their carbonated, non-tea fruit drinks. They just use fresh fruit, so I didn’t adjust the sweetness level. The textures in this drink, from the fruit pulp to th... (read more) 3.5/5.0

Roberta’s Sweet corn soft serve: Truly tastes of sweet corn and cream. Texture is mostly smooth but a little bit grainy. Pricy for its size, at $6.50. Based on flavor alone, I would give it a 4, but accounting for texture and value, it’s a 3.5. Available at the take out section of Roberta’s in East Williamsburg. 3.5/5.0
