Coop Ginger Ale: This small single-serving can comes from my local grocery store, Coop. From what I've experienced of ginger soda offerings in Japan, they tend to have a spicier ginger flavor and are less sweet than what you'd find on American supermarket shelves (like Canada Dry or Seagram's). That's perfect for me, as I like very gingery sodas. Even as a store-brand offering, this is a great quality ginger soda. According to Tasty Snacking archives, this is the 40th ginger soda that I've had, and it's d... (read more) 4.0/5.0

Coppenrath Traveler Cookies on Tour: German cookies shaped as rectangular stamps each featuring a different city from Copenhagen to Istanbul to San Francisco. Favors European geography, but it's still quite fun to explore since there are at least 15 different countries represented - I rarely got the same city within a single serving. Exceptionally good value at $3 for a sizable bag. I purchased the caramel flavor, which had a sweet and buttery spiced molasses flavor. Would definitely purchase again. 4.0/5.0

Cosmos Tteokbokki Rice Crackers: Korean spicy and sweet rice crackers shaped like rigatoni, with the exact opposite texture of the typically soft and chewy cylindrical rice cakes. Tastes of fermented gochujang chili paste, which is a staple in most Korean cooking so will taste familiar if you enjoy eating Korean stews. More sweet than savory but has a mildly spicy aftertaste. This is the second brand I've tried from HMart, and they seem pretty much interchangeable but both delicious. 4.0/5.0

Craftsman and Wolves Strawberry Cake: On Valencia in the heart of the Mission is the original location of the Craftsman and Wolves, a pastry shop where each item is backdropped by a matte black countertop, with slide-out trays for individually plated cakes and specialty items. The presentation of the pastries is impeccable, with a commendable level of consistency and care put into every piece. Of course, as with any San Francisco establishment, you pay a premium for quality - the strawberry cake, about 4 inches long, was $8. ... (read more) 4.0/5.0

Cream Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream Sandwich with Chocolate Chip Cookies: For the past few weeks, I've passed this popular Ice Cream shop on my way back from Amoeba in Berkeley and always noted the long lines. At around 10pm last Friday night, it took me 8 minutes in line to get to the counter, where I was greeted with an overwhelming scent of butter and baked goods. While the menu lists over 20 flavors, only about 10 are actually available at any given time. I ordered their mint chocolate chip ice cream with two chocolate chip cookies for a surprisingly low pri... (read more) 4.0/5.0

Culture Frozen yogurt with pina colada topping: Culture is a chain of NYC yogurt shops offering both frozen and regular yogurt in an ever-changing menu of flavors, with new menus every day. Their seasonal flavored yogurts are consistently excellent—concentrated and clean with a high quality tart yogurt base. I enjoyed their plain yogurt their pina colada seasonal topping, which had a sweet tropical drizzle and chewy coconut macaron-like bites. It was very tasty and had a great balance of sweet and tart. Look forward to an embarrassing num... (read more) 4.0/5.0
