Sahne Muh-Muhs Caramel Fudge: Found in Natural Lawson, these caramels are originally from Germany and feature generous rectangular pieces that are more like fudge in texture than the chewy, stretchy caramel I expected. The consistency is coarse and grainy - it crumbles when you bite into it. I was disappointed to find that it didn't have a particular buttery flavor, tasting more of pure sugar than anything else. A disappointing purchase. 2.0/5.0

Lorenz Cheese Flavoured Monster Munch: Purchased from the international grocery Nissin World in Azabu Juban, these fried cheese snacks are from German company Lorenz and consist of ghost-shaped crisps with a lightly cheesy coating, tasting more milky and mild than most cheese-flavored snacks I've had. The pieces are slightly translucent, more styrofoam-like than cracker-like in texture. Flavor-wise, they were just so-so, more cute than they were cravable. 2.5/5.0

Thomas Henry Ginger Beer: A German ginger beer made by Thomas Henry; meant as a mixer, but truly fantastic on its own. Ginger sodas are my favorite, and this is definitely in the top 5 that I've had in my life. The drink is well balanced and has a substantial but not overwhelming spicy flavor, but the real surprise is the lingering heat that lasts minutes after your last sip. I wish I knew of places to purchase other Thomas Henry drinks, a brand I had not seen prior to this bottle, but I ordered this drink at a re... (read more) 4.5/5.0

Coppenrath Traveler Cookies on Tour: German cookies shaped as rectangular stamps each featuring a different city from Copenhagen to Istanbul to San Francisco. Favors European geography, but it's still quite fun to explore since there are at least 15 different countries represented - I rarely got the same city within a single serving. Exceptionally good value at $3 for a sizable bag. I purchased the caramel flavor, which had a sweet and buttery spiced molasses flavor. Would definitely purchase again. 4.0/5.0

Trader Joe's Pfeffernüsse: German cookies with a hard coating dusted in powdered sugar. The white exterior is strongly spiced, reminiscent of wintermint, which I find to be overly strong for the more neutral gingerbread-flavored cookie. They are a mess to eat and require a plate to avoid crumbs and dust ending up all over yourself. The packaging suggests pairing with a hot beverage, which I believe would help, but on their own, these snacks are a pass. 2.0/5.0

Niedereggen Marzipan: Marzipan coated in a thin layer of 71% dark chocolate. Fantastic nutty flavor that isn't too sweet. Love that the chocolate is so thin and doesn't overwhelm the marzipan. A special German treat. 4.5/5.0
