Microwaved marshmallow topped with frosted flakes: In a moment of desperation mixed with curiosity, I decided to combine two items recently purchased from Whole Foods (both WH branded). The marshmallow was heated in the microwave for 25 seconds with some corn flakes garnished on top. I took this picture about 3 seconds too late as the marshmallow was fantastically inflated upon removing my plate from the microwave. I sprinkled a few more flakes on top and ate with a fork. 365 Little Cubbies cereal: The Whole Foods equivalent to Lucky Charms, this cereal certainly tastes less artificial. The bear-shaped pieces (irregular and abstract) are coated with a glossy, slightly sweet glaze, and the pink and white marshmallow bits are reminiscent of what you might find in a hot cocoa mix. The texture of the marshmallows out-of-the-box is strange but mellows out in a bowl of milk. Overall, an okay cereal. 2.5/5.0

Ample Hills Creamery Lemon ginger sorbet and Snap, Mallow, Pop ice cream: Family friendly ice cream shop Ample Hills Creamery is probably as Brooklyn as an ice cream store can get. The flavors are completely made in-house, hand-drawn illustrations act as signage, and flavors like “gooey gooey butter cake” and “Nonna d’s oatmeal lace” hearken back to an extremely classic American childhood that I can only imagine those that had cookie jars in their kitchens may have experienced. Ben and Jerry's S'mores ice cream: Chocolate ice cream with marshmallow, fudge chunks, and graham cracker 'swirls.' Chocolate masks any other flavor unfortunately, particularly with the added chocolate bits. Good quality chocolate ice cream, though 3.0/5.0

ChikaLicious petits fours: Perfectly executed bites. Incredibly light and fluffy marshmallow that melts almost instantly, chocolate covered in toasted coconut whose flavor develops over time, and shortbread biscuit topped with an airy cream and candied pistachio. Indulgent, clean flavors. Not to be missed. 5.0/5.0

Dominique Ansel Bakery Frozen S’more: Brûléed to order, this sizable toasted marshmallow resembles a baked Alaska, with a vanilla ice cream interior mixed with chocolate crunchies.
