Happy Lemon Taro with fresh milk drink with boba: A tri-layer drink with boba at its base, a milk slush at the top, and bits of taro root sandwiched in between. Purchased at 0% sweetness, the boba, which had a honey coating, was sweet enough to keep the drink balanced. The taro root pieces had a good amount of bite and starchiness to give the drink extra substance. And the slushie was both creamy and rich. If you’re a fan of taro, you’ll like this drink! 3.5/5.0

Happy Lemon Ube Green Tea Smoothie with Rock Salt Crema: Ube, green tea, and salted cream seemed like an unlikely combination, but one that I felt of all chains, Happy Lemon could probably pull off. Happy Lemon Yakult Lemon Slushy: I returned to the Happy Lemon in Boston (located in the Arcade Mall in Downtown Crossing) and ordered a Yakult Lemon Slushy drink this time. Yakult is a popular Japanese yogurt drink that comes in cute plastic containers. The texture of the slush was good but melted quickly in the summer heat. The boba was much improved from my first visit, with a good amount of give. Overall, the drink was on the sweet side but balanced out by the acidity of the lemon drink. 3.0/5.0

Happy Lemon Kiwi Matcha Slushie: I didn't expect to enjoy the mango matcha slush I had a few months ago at the Happy Lemon in Berkeley, so I decided to try the kiwi version in New York (I'm pretty sure this wasn't an option in California).
