Culture Plain frozen yogurt with pumpkin cheesecake topping : The pumpkin cheesecake topping at Culture, a yogurt chain in NYC, features cubes of pumpkin-flavored cheesecake and a drizzle of pumpkin syrup / caramel. The cheesecake pieces were well spiced, and the syrup was rich but not too sweet. My favorite part was the plain frozen yogurt, though, which is always smooth, tart, and creamy. 3.5/5.0

DeKEFIR Kefir frozen yogurt with peaches : While I've had store-bought kefir, this was my first experience with a frozen version of the yogurt. The mildly tangy, smooth frozen yogurt at deKEFIR is surprisingly hydrating and refreshing. However, its fruit toppings are honestly a little sad, as can be immediately identifiable by the color of my slightly brown sliced peaches. 3.0/5.0

Detroit Water Ice Mango and watermelon ice: Seeking a local treat, I found myself at Detroit Water Ice, a store specializing in flavored ice that falls somewhere between Italian ice and Icee. After sampling their intensely and unappetizingly sweet cinnamon horchata, I inquired about their least sweet options. Disneyland Pumpkin pie churro: Massive churro (as it should be, at $5 a piece) dusted with seasonal pumpkin spice sugar and small edible ghost confetti. After dusting off more than half the sugar, I found the room-temperature churro to be completely average in texture and flavor. Purchased from Cars Land in Disney’s California Adventure. 2.0/5.0
