Sofra Baklava: To be fair, I ate this pastry after it had been sitting out for about an hour or so. Even so, I was shocked by how sickeningly sweet the honey was, which you can see seeping from the edges of the pastry. The one saving grace was the pistachios, which were slightly candied and very good. Otherwise, I would pass on this dessert. 2.5/5.0

Sevan Walnut Baklava: To accompany my previously reviewed soda, I purchased a walnut-flavored pastry from Sevan Bakery in Watertown. I usually find baklava to be overly sweet, and this one did have a very distinct honey flavor, but the pastry was exceptionally crisp and flaky, and the chopped walnuts balanced the sweetness of the dessert. One of the best baklava I've had to date. 4.0/5.0

Christina's Chai Ice Cream: Still my favorite place to get ice cream in Cambridge, Christina's seasonal chai-flavored ice cream is the perfect blend of spice, cream, and sweetness. N'ice Cream watermelon and mango sorbet: Located on Abbot Kinney in Venice, LA, this small shop offers an assortment of ice creams and sorbets. For a small, priced at $5, I was given two substantial scoops, both of very high quality. I was most impressed with the texture, which was perfectly smooth. The mango flavor was a bit faint but very clean, and the watermelon was especially distinct: a remarkably creamy take on a seasonal classic. Highly recommended. 4.0/5.0

Gelati Celesti salted caramel gelato: I received a single-serving container of this gelato on my flight on Virgin Australia, though the brand is based in Richmond, VA. The ice cream itself had a great smooth texture and while it was sweet, the sea salt was prominent and helped balance the dessert. 3.5/5.0
