Dominique Ansel Kitchen What-a-melon watermelon soft serve: Dominique Ansel celebrates the start of summer with a special watermelon soft serve, served in a fresh watermelon "taco" topped with thin seed-shaped chocolate. We braved the line of Instagram fanatics for 20 minutes in advance of the soft serve window opening at 11am at the West Village Dominique Ansel Kitchen. Admittedly, it's as photogenic as any Ansel dessert, with a mountainous swirl of glistening orange-pink sorbet. The soft serve itself had a concentrated melon flavor and great textu... Found Watermelon Basil Sparkling Refreshment: Found is a beverage company claiming to create its own category of carbonated fruit drinks; according to its site, it is neither seltzer, soda or tonic, but a "naturally sparkling refreshment." Its marketing also claims that the carbonation exists naturally at its source. I'm not sure how much I buy into their story, but I do think the beverage itself is very good. I like fizzy carbonated water, and this is more carbonated than most bottled products. The watermelon flavor reminds me a bi... (read more) 3.5/5.0

Good Belly cranberry watermelon probiotic juice drink: I was drawn to this product because I've never heard of a probiotic drink that was dairy-free. This company's selling point is the addition of probiotic cultures for \"renewing your digestive health.\" Whether this is effective I cannot say, but I can say that the juice is delicious, like the best fruit punch juice box you can remember having. The flavor is nostalgic (it contains only juice from concentrate, though it's all organic), but it still feels fresh and age appropriate. It's slightl... (read more) 4.0/5.0

Kabaya Watermelon Gummies: Softer than most gummy candies, falling more towards the marshmallow end of chewy textures, with Haribo on the opposite extreme. Shaped like little watermelon wedges and coated with sugar. Tastes like typically watermelon-flavored candy, which doesn't quite taste like real watermelon but would be recognizable nonetheless. Purchased at a Lawson drugstore. 2.5/5.0

N'ice Cream watermelon and mango sorbet: Located on Abbot Kinney in Venice, LA, this small shop offers an assortment of ice creams and sorbets. For a small, priced at $5, I was given two substantial scoops, both of very high quality. I was most impressed with the texture, which was perfectly smooth. The mango flavor was a bit faint but very clean, and the watermelon was especially distinct: a remarkably creamy take on a seasonal classic. Highly recommended. 4.0/5.0
