Incredibly light and fluffy marshmallow that melts almost instantly, chocolate covered in toasted coconut whose flavor develops over time, and shortbread biscuit topped with an airy cream and candied pistachio. Morgenstern's ice cream: Cardamom lemon jam ice cream was excellent-beautifully spiced, tart lemon cubes added texture and interest. Green tea pistachio did not taste of green tea at all-instead, was a very solid pistachio ice cream. High quality pistachio nuts throughout. Also sampled the burnt honey, which was too sweet. 4.0/5.0

Saffron & Rose Faloodeh and pistachio Turkish ice cream: Returning to this small ice cream shop after 3 years, I found Saffron & Rose has all grown up. Gone are the glass walls, replaced by an orange red drywall, and the generic white cups have been styled with their logo printed on the side. Also missing was the kind owner, who relentlessly handed me every flavor in the shop to sample (without me even asking). Leonelli Focacceria e Pasticceria Cheesecake: New York, the city of cheesecakes, squeezes in another well-executed rendition at Leonelli Focacceria e Pasticceria, the bakery adjacent to former Lincoln’s chef’s namesake restaurant. A hockey-puck-sized cake is light and airy, not overly sweet yet still uniquely creamy. Topped with slightly tart but mostly sweet sliced strawberries, as well as halved pistachios. No one is asking for yet another cheesecake, but when it’s done well, it falls into place as if it always existed. 4.0/5.0

Eat Me Cardamom Rose Pistachio Halva Dairy-Free Ice Cream: Coconut-based ice cream I purchased from the Park Slope Food Coop, from a women-owned independent company based in Rochester, New York. Combines some of my favorite flavors in an unexpected mix. The ice cream is smooth and creamy and contains bits of crunchy halva, which adds a delicious slightly savory sesame kick. Nutty, sweet, and floral. Definitely up for trying their other flavors after this introduction. 4.0/5.0
