Koikeya Strong Sour Cream and Onion Potato Chips: These chips taste like the Japanese version of Ruffles Sour Cream and Onion Chips except that the flavor is stronger on tangy sour cream taste, which I enjoy even more. I get the sense that Koikeya is sort of like the Frito Lay's of Japan, since their brands are everywhere and especially prominent in convenience stores. Overall, a familiar but comforting junk food flavor. 3.5/5.0

Denroku Porippy Crispy Peanuts: I had previous reviewed the 'spicy' version of this snack and purchased a new flavor to try without knowing what the package said. It turns out that the green bag is the normal flavor consisting of roasted peanuts in a seasoned fried crispy coating. It's definitely missing the extra flavor that the spicy peanut has, which comes in a yellow and red bag. Definitely prefer the spicy flavor; while these were not bad, they are more for purist fans of roasted peanuts than I am. 3.0/5.0

Azabu Sabo Matcha Ice Cream: Azabu Sabo is an ice cream stand located in Akihabara station that offers a variety of classic flavors as well as several green tea options. I ordered their stronger matcha flavor, which had a solid balanced bitter green tea flavor. The texture of the icy was fluffy, which was pretty surprising, but you could also taste the sugar crystals so it wasn't entirely smooth. Overall, not bad but not one of the better options in Tokyo. 3.0/5.0

Tokyo Milk Cheese Strawberry Cream Puff: Catching up on some reviews I never wrote back when shops were still open. This is a cream puff shop right outside of the Akihabara train station in Tokyo. They have regular cream, chocolate, and strawberry flavored cream puffs, as well as some seasonal flavors. I purchased the strawberry one, and it was quite good - the pastry was flaky and dusted in powdered sugar, and the strawberry cream inside was smooth and pleasantly sweet. Definitely decent for a chain shop and a quick snack. 3.5/5.0

Morinaga Pino Uji Matcha Ice Cream: These are popular frozen treats you can buy at most shops in Japan. They're shaped like large Dots candies with a thin outer coating and ice cream interior. The classic version has vanilla ice cream with a chocolate coating. I purchased their Uji Matcha flavor, which tastes of a mix of matcha and red bean, though both the shell and ice cream were matcha-green. I was surprised how much red bean flavor came through. The coating is not like American coated-ice cream, which tends to be cris... (read more) 3.0/5.0

Lotte Suika Ba: This is an ice cream bar you can find anywhere in Japan, in convenience stores (individually wrapped) or in grocery stores in multi-packs. The package comes with two flavors (3 of each): half watermelon and half honeydew. They're extremely cute and have a candy taste that's definitely sweet but not really as artificial tasting as the Jolly Rancher equivalent taste. And the bars themselves are pretty substantial and have a consistency that's less watery than a typical fruit popsicle in the... (read more) 3.5/5.0
