Humphry Slocombe Fromage Blanc with Strawberry Ice Cream: Classic cheesecake flavor - with more cheese than strawberry (and thus, aptly named). Rich enough to make you dehydrated. Slightly icy in texture rather than smooth. If this were my first exposure to Humphrey Slocombe, I would think it was overrated and probably wouldn't return. Tominga Melon Cream Soda: Purchased from Galco's in Los Angeles, this Japanese fruit soda is like a carbonated melon-flavored Calpico: intensely sweet and like a liquified starburst with its artificial fruit flavor and atomic green color. It has a slightly milky finish, with a white froth that collects at the top of the bottle. I've never had a soda like it before, and I probably don't want to have a soda like it again. 3.0/5.0

White Rabbit Cream Prune Drops: Most people know White Rabbit from their iconic chewy milk-flavored candies wrapped in rice paper. But when several coworkers from Shanghai visited bearing (candy) gifts, I was surprised to find prune-flavored White Rabbit hard candies. These drops are reminiscent of dried sour and sweet salted plums that are a popular snack in Taiwan. Ample Hills Creamery Lemon ginger sorbet and Snap, Mallow, Pop ice cream: Family friendly ice cream shop Ample Hills Creamery is probably as Brooklyn as an ice cream store can get. The flavors are completely made in-house, hand-drawn illustrations act as signage, and flavors like “gooey gooey butter cake” and “Nonna d’s oatmeal lace” hearken back to an extremely classic American childhood that I can only imagine those that had cookie jars in their kitchens may have experienced.
