Kutoa chocolate banana bar: This do-good company feeds a child in need for every bar sold. The bars have a dense texture and contain a substantial amount of protein (5g) and fiber (3g). It contains ingredients as varied as pea crisps, date paste, and brown rice, on top of the expected oats, chocolates, and bananas. To be honest, I was pretty revolted after my first bite, as it had a strange health-food flavor, but I quickly got used to it. Lake Champlain Caramel Five Star bar: These "snack" bars always seem to be at the check out at Whole Foods. I'm not one to purchase chocolate on my own, but I received one for participating in a research study at my lab. Inside the fairly thick milk chocolate shell is a very sweet honey caramel mixed with nuts. The size of the chocolate is awkward: too big for a snack, and requires a knife to reasonably share with others. Overall, I found the caramel milk chocolate combo to be far too sweet. Trader Joe's pumpkin cereal bars: Another pumpkin seasonal item, this snack tastes true to its flavor, with a spiced pumpkin pie interior containing ingredients such as cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove. Like most cereal bars, it's on the sweet side. A great filling snack in between meals and a good value at $2 for a box of 6. 3.5/5.0

Odwalla superfood bar: While this chewy snack bar has an off putting greenish-brown color, I found it to be tasty and very filling. As far as I saw, there aren't any green veggie ingredients, so the color is a mystery. Instead, the bar contains a range of fruit and grain ingredients such as dates, bananas, raisins, coconut, and crispy rice (which added a nice crunchy texture). The one thing I would change is I found the bar to be a little too sweet (20g sugar per bar), but otherwise, I was happy with it. 3.5/5.0

Kate's coconut mango cashew Tiki bar: I purchased this bar for a little over $2 from the Leanbox at work. Despite its small-ish size, this extremely dense snack bar is very filling. Perhaps because it was stored in a fridge, it became quite leaden. The flavor is tangy and tropical - the coconut flavor is prominent, and the mango tastes citrusy for some reason. Cadbury Oreo flavored dairy milk chocolate bar: Supposedly British chocolate is less sweet than American, but I found this milk chocolate to be far too sweet. That combined with the already sugary Oreo results in an OD. Oreo bits are Oreos. 2.0/5.0
