Sprouted Go Raw Banana Bread Sprouted Bar: Recently, my office has started getting free snacks / advertising from various organic energy bar companies. This one from Sprouted contains four ingredients: flaxseed, banana, coconut, and dates. It appears sizable but is in fact very thin, perhaps giving off an illusion of substance or value. Consistency-wise, it's slightly chewy and sticky. By color, you may not guess it's banana bread flavored, but you can definitely taste it, though the addition of dates gives it a unique sweet flav... Tokyo Banana Pokmeon Edition Tokyo Banana: Tokyo Banana is a brand of cake only available in Japan that's marketed as the #1 souvenir. I bought a few boxes to mail as gifts when returning to the states, along with this single serving pouch of their special Pokemon edition. As far as I know, it's the exact same flavor as the original Tokyo Banana but features Pikachu printed on the sponge cake. The cake itself is very fluffy and soft but has very little flavor to it on its own; inside is a banana cream with a slightly brownish-yell... (read more) 2.5/5.0

Pocky Chocolate Banana: Chocolate Pocky biscuits dipped in a "banana" coating. Ingredients say contains less than one percent of artificial flavors and banana powder...flavor matches description. Tastes like banana flavored Runts, which is very different than actual bananas. Too sweet and very artificial. 2.0/5.0

Kind Banana Nut Clusters: Found this granola on sale at my local grocery store and picked it up after having generally good experiences with their bars. This bag is a low fat and sugar product, and you definitely taste it. I'm one for lighter snacks, but this granola verges on flavorless. The banana flavor is very faint, and some handfuls have a strong cinnamon taste, which I don't tend to associate with banana nut. Additionally, the clusters are dense, making them overly crunchy. I think it could work on plain yogur... (read more) 2.0/5.0

Kutoa chocolate banana bar: This do-good company feeds a child in need for every bar sold. The bars have a dense texture and contain a substantial amount of protein (5g) and fiber (3g). It contains ingredients as varied as pea crisps, date paste, and brown rice, on top of the expected oats, chocolates, and bananas. To be honest, I was pretty revolted after my first bite, as it had a strange health-food flavor, but I quickly got used to it. Beyond that, though, I can't say much about the desirability of this imbalanced ... (read more) 2.0/5.0

Mah Ze Dahr Banana Bread: Mah Ze Dahr is a small bakery in Greenwich Village with pastries carefully organized on wooden boards and raised platters, somehow conveying both abundance (through its variety of baked goods) and scarcity (there are <10 of each). This banana bread was served in a sizable disc, like an enlarged, leveled-off muffin top, or an especially thick cookie. Unfortunately, while banana bread is one of my favorites, I found it to be a bit on the dry side, and the sugar coating on top made it far too... (read more) 2.0/5.0
