Sunny Mart まじめなおかし Yuzu Biscuits: Purchased from Natural Lawson, a popualar convenience store, these round biscuits with scallop edges are thick and crunchy, rather than flaky like Ritz crackers. They have a glazed coating that has a sweet tangy citrus flavor. But they are also heavily seasoned, probably the saltiest snack I've had in Japan, so I never wanted to eat much of it. Swedish Fish Tails: Growing up, my family had a Costco membership, which we sparingly used for snacks and essentially never used for candy except for the one time my mom purchased a box of Swedish Fish. The box contained about 20 bags of the original red Swedish Fish, the individual rectangular bags you'd find at the checkout section of a gas station. Sweet Belly Desserts Oatmeal pecan cookie: Had been curious about this highly rated dessert shop in Oakland after hearing about their donuts, but I found they only sell their mini-donuts in a set of 6, which I wasn't hungry enough for. Instead, I opted for an oatmeal pecan cookie, which was flavored with butterscotch chips. It was a snack whose essence is fully captured in a single bite; overly buttery and sweet, I forced myself to eat the entire cookie, but I knew immediately it wasn't worth the calories. 2.0/5.0

Sweet Sydney's Chocolate Chip Brownie: Purchased this brownie from the vending machine at work on a rare day I was craving chocolate. Upon first bite, though, I knew it was a mistake. I'm sure refrigeration came into play, but the texture was hard, and it was insanely sweet, like eating pure sugar. (There's 27g of sugar in this square). Definitely did not need the addition of powdered sugar on top. Standard chocolate flavor. A snack that is certainly not worth the money or calories. 2.0/5.0

Tao Kae Noi Sriracha chili sauce flavored crispy seaweed: While the packaging features a mascot that can't take the heat, I was surprised to find this snack lacked any punch. I don't have a high spice tolerance, yet I wouldn't characterize this snack as spicy at all. If I didn't know it was supposed to taste like Sriracha, I would have guessed a sweet chili flavor rather than a spicy one. The seaweed also was not very crispy compared to other times I've had this snack. I'm not sure if I got a dud, but this product was disappointing overall. 2.0/5.0
