Darrell Lea dark chocolate covered ginger: This box of chocolates contains a gold-colored pouch with bite-sized chocolates. The chocolate coating is thin but substantial enough and encloses a chewy dried ginger interior. The ginger is mildly spiced and very sweet. My only previous experience with Darrell Lea is the strawberry licorice they sell at Trader Joe's, which I like. This candy was about average. 2.5/5.0

Cadbury dairy milk and sweet biscuit chocolate: A final snack from my flight back from Australia, this milk chocolate bar was possibly the most sweet chocolate I've had. The sweet biscuits added a crunchy texture but also even more sweetness. 1.5/5.0

Weis strawberry, watermelon, and lychee ice cream bar: One of several snacks I received on my Virgin Australia flight, this frozen treat had a unique combination of fruits along with a vanilla base. I found the fruit component to have a remarkably clean flavor, where all three fruits are easily identifiable. The ice cream base was so-so: more icy than creamy. Pretty good for a mass-manufactured ice cream bar. 3.0/5.0

Bunderim Ginger ginger gummy bears: : these Australian gummy bears contain 5% ginger juice. They are substantially bigger and less chewy than Haribo, with a dense texture. Frosted on the exterior, the gummies' initial flavor is strange and waxy, but the aftertaste is unmistakably ginger, with a pleasant amount of spice. Still, it has less ginger flavor than Asian ginger chew candies. 2.5/5.0

Superbee sparkling honey and ginger soda: The final drink I purchased in Australia was another ginger soda I had never seen before. Incorporating Australian honey, the champagne-colored drink comes in a long, frosted glass bottle. The bubbles are small and delicate. Beyond this, though, the flavor was underwhelming, like a Canada Dry flavored with honey. There was very little spiced ginger aftertaste, and the honey dominated the drink. 3.0/5.0
