Trader Joe’s Matcha Joe Joe’s sandwich cookies: Trader Joe’s delivers on this Japanese-take on the classic American sandwich cookie. A thick layer of matcha-flavored cream (~1.5x that of a normal Oreo) sits between two vanilla cookies. The interior has an icing-like texture and is very sweet. I wish there was about half the amount of sugar, but even so, I still found myself enjoying the snack overall. Would purchase again. 3.5/5.0

Trader Joe’s Blueberry Almond Peanut Date and Nut Bites: Energy bites are the new granola bars, though they’re not as filling and tend to have small serving sizes. That’s the case with this 2-per-serving snack from Trader Joe’s consisting of a soft mix of dried fruit, nuts, and seeds. The usual suspects of natural health snacks are present (chia seeds and coconut). They are pretty high in sugar given the size but don’t have any added sugar. Tastes predominantly of dates, though you also get a bit of berry too. Decent as far as this type of product... (read more) 3.0/5.0

Trader Joe’s Calamansi Cooler: I’m a fan of the increasing number of calamansi-flavored products I’ve witnessed overt the past year, and there is perhaps no bigger institution to bring visibility to this tropical fruit than Trader Joe’s. Their calamansi cooler contains less than a 12oz can but looks substantial given its slender and tall packaging. Non-carbonated, the beverage tastes like a cross between lime and grapefruit with a trace of a more acidic, funky fruit like passion fruit. Overall, it’s a bit too sweet for my... Trader Joe’s 3 Seed Multigrain Beet Crackers: A textural crossover between a tortilla chip and a cracker, this multigrain seeded beet snack from Trader Joe’s has a vegetal flavor without being uniquely identifiable as beet (beyond the color). Because of its crisp and slightly irregular texture, they seem like a slightly more unique substitute for corn tortillas and would probably pair nicely with a creamy dip. On their own, they’re a bit salty. 3.0/5.0

Trader Joe’s Sweet & Salty granola bars: Chewy and flavor-heavy snack option combining almond butter and yogurt, along with grains and nuts. Barely a granola bar; more likely candy. Overly sweet for my palate. Surprisingly not so filling. 3.0/5.0

Trader Joe’s Cornbread Crisps: I love cornbread, so I was especially excited to try this snack from Trader Joe’s. The chips are thickly cut and triangular, in a similar vein to Stacy’s pita chips. The flavor does bear a pretty strong resemblance to cornbread, but it leans more savory than sweet. I was missing the distinct gritty texture of cornmeal. I recommend Milton’s corn bread crackers if you want an altogether better cornbread snack. 3.0/5.0
