Annie's Organic Grabbits Chocolate Sandwich Cookies: Like many of Annie's products, it's obvious what major-brand staple they're directly posing as an alternative for, but they do it well and with integrity. Clearly these are inspired by Oreos, but meant for parents who care enough to spend a few more dollars on sandwich cookies that contain no artificial flavors, synthetic colors, or high-fructose corn syrup. In the end, they taste slightly better but are much better for you (though at the end of the day, they're still snacks). 3.5/5.0

Binggrae Samanco Brown Sugar Boba Ice Cream Sandwich: A Korean brand's take on frozen Japanese taiyaki featuring Taiwanese bubble tea, this trinity of representation incorporates milk tea ice cream alongside brown sugar "boba." Unlike the packaging would indicate, the split between ice cream and boba is not 50/50 but more like 90/10, with a thin layer of brown syrup containing popping-type boba that's neither chewy nor bursting, a texture all its own. Having experienced the Monaka Jumbo ice cream sandwiches in Japan, with its iconic crispy wa... (read more) 3.0/5.0

Blue Bunny Big Vanilla Sandwich: It's 100 degrees in San Francisco this weekend, a rare heatwave that still feels very muggy despite the lack of humidity. My co-workers that work in the downtown SF office of my company are lucky enough to have free access to a freezer of ice cream, including this large ice cream sandwich from Blue Bunny. It tastes exactly the same as the ice cream sandwiches you had growing up - two chocolate "cookies" that have a sponge-like texture that sandwich vanilla ice cream that somehow manages to... Cream Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream Sandwich with Chocolate Chip Cookies: For the past few weeks, I've passed this popular Ice Cream shop on my way back from Amoeba in Berkeley and always noted the long lines. At around 10pm last Friday night, it took me 8 minutes in line to get to the counter, where I was greeted with an overwhelming scent of butter and baked goods. While the menu lists over 20 flavors, only about 10 are actually available at any given time. I ordered their mint chocolate chip ice cream with two chocolate chip cookies for a surprisingly low pri... (read more) 4.0/5.0

Du’s Donuts Ice cream sandwich : I really enjoyed the Pyggy sandwich I had at Byggyz, the newly opened sandwich shop in LES (NYC) from Wylie Dufresne’s dad Dewey. We decided to also try their one dessert option, an absurdly priced $7 ice cream sandwich made with Du’s donuts (the donut shop Wylie launched earlier in the year). Inside the ice cream sandwich is a marmalade ice cream, which, flavor-wise, had a satisfying tart flavor. Texturally, though, I found the sandwich as a whole to be a miss. The entire frozen treat is ov... (read more) 2.5/5.0

Fuku Koreano sandwich: An off-menu item at David Chang's new fried chicken joint in the East Village, this sandwich is exactly the same as the regular fried chicken sandwich with the addition of pickled daikon radish. The pickled veggies are well worth the extra dollar (at $9), as they cut through the surprisingly fatty fried chicken. The chicken itself is very moist and mostly dark meat, and the seasoning of the breading is spot on. The sandwich comes with a side of Saä sauce, which tastes like a combination of s...
