Drop the Mic Ice Cream: Chikalicious is my favorite dessert bar, and I highly recommend it if you haven't been before. Trader Joe's fig bites: : TJ's version of Fig Newtons is appreciably better, with a soft exterior (that isn't as crumbly as a Fig Newton) and a sweet fig filling The filling is less chewy than alternative fig bars and had a satisfying bite from the seeds. Overall, a very good snack. 4.0/5.0

Trader Joe's speculoos cookies: Technically, I already reviewed this snack, but it was back in the day when I didn't give numerical scores. Speculoos is a type of spiced European biscuit commonly made with brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg. The TJ's version is sweet and has a good level of spice. They make you feel like it's the holidays. Overall, a good value snack. 3.5/5.0

Oishi Marty's salt and vinegar flavored cracklings: I bought this snack because I saw chicharons on the package, but when I got home, I was upset and baffled to see they were vegetarian. Upon tasting, though, I'm impressed with how closely they were able to match a distinctively meaty snack. The cracklings don't melt in your mouth the way fatty chicharons do, but the aggressive salt and vinegar flavor combined with a crunchy, textured cracker bears a passing resemblance. Barbara's jalapeno cheese puffs: Crunchy corn "puffs" that are a little spicy and just a little funky (they contain a bit of blue cheese). I'm generally not a fan of blue cheese, but it works well here. Very addicting, with a robust cheddar flavor. A unique spin on a classic snack. 4.0/5.0

Tiny but Mighty kettle popcorn: This snack features a special line of heirloom kernels whose hulls disintegrate when popped. This means that there are virtually no shells to pick from your teeth after eating, (useful science!). While the kernels are small, they have the perfect balance of salty and sweet. An especially addictive snack that quickly disappears despite a 10-serving bag.
