Hori Milk Soriflora Soy Yogurt: This probiotic yogurt is soybean based and has a definite non-dairy texture (slightly more set and a little grainy compared to normal yogurt). It does have a pleasantly sweet soy milk flavor and is on the sweet side but fairly neutral otherwise. 3.0/5.0

They have a bunch of different flavors, including strawberry, peach, and banana. I decided to try the Melon, which seems to be a special flavor in Japan (I recently had melon-flavored soda at Moss Burger for example). The drink comes frozen but has a conical lid that extends almost to the base of the cup, keeping the center hollow. Once you purchase the drink, yo... (read more) 2.5/5.0

At Gomaya Kuki, off of a side street in Shibuya, you have only the choice between black and white sesame ice cream, but each comes in three varieties. For the black sesame, you can choose between triple rich, rich, and salted, while for the white sesame, they have triple rich, rich, and chunky multigrain. I decided to try the triple rich black and chunky multigrain. On the side ar... (read more) 3.0/5.0

The miniature pouch contains even more miniature pudding-shaped chocolates made presumably with white chocolate, since they have this waxy not-real-chocolate texture. They're really cute, though! The flavor does taste like those pudding packs that have a caramel top, or like the pudding you might get with bubble tea, but a very artificial type. 4/5 for the packaging and cute-factor, but only a 2/5 for flavor. 2.0/5.0
japanese kabaya pudding chocolate 2.0Nico Sweet potato donut: There's a pocket-sized store close to the train station that sells freshly made donuts about the size of a Montreal bagel. They're a bit pricy relatively, compared to how inexpensive most things are in Japan, but a purple Japanese sweet potato donut caught my eye, and I purchased one at about $2.50. The texture of the donut was very unique, not crumbly like cake donuts, but also not oily at all like heavily fried donuts. Almost like a very light pound cake, but barely sweetened. In fact, th... The Muji at the top of the Akomeya mall in Shinjuku had a vending machine and I decided to give it a try. My top choice, a lychee drink with konjac nata de coco, was sold out, so I opted for a can of chai, which comes in an aluminum bottle with a twist-off cap. I liked the minimalism of the packagin...
