Glica Crispy Chicken Pretz: I've had Pretz before in the states but never any meat-flavored versions. Pretz are essentially very thin and crispy breadsticks. This pack comes with two sealed snack packs. Flavor-wise, the crispy chicken sticks tasted mostly of lemon actually, which I suppose is a common side for fried food but I expected way more chicken flavor. If I were to taste them blind, I would guess they were a salted lemon flavor. Overall, not particularly good. 2.0/5.0

Glica Cafe Ore Purin: I've always loved Japanese purin, or custard pudding with a sweet caramel base. It has a very satisfying jiggle that's more set than American pudding but less bouncy than Jello. I had never tried the Glica coffee version, which is flavored after the beverage line Cafe Ore. it has a typical yet still robust coffee flavor; the roasted coffee taste does round out the typical sweetness of the pudding (though it is definitely still very sweet). Would purchase again! 3.5/5.0

Glico Yurbai Melon Pocky: This special Pocky flavor features the Yurbai Melon, a cantaloupe grown in Hokkaido, Japan. The snack comes as a Giant Pocky, at around 7" in length, and has a vivid orange-sherbet-colored coating with a sweet, concentrated cantaloupe flavor. According to the ingredients, the flavoring comes from melon juice powder. The biscuit base is neutral like most Pocky, but it's thicker and thus less crunchy than regular Pocky; more like a biscuit than a cracker. The coating to biscuit ratio is also ... Glico vanilla ice cream snack: I've seen variants of this product before and have always been somewhat curious but not enough to purchase. This particular snack came in my latest #munchpak installment, which was a good excuse to try it. It consists of a wafer-like cone with an airy, yet oddly moist filling that resembles whipped butter in texture and texture. I really disliked the cone, which had a texture similar to cardboard (and a flavor to match). The vanilla filling had a slimy mouthfeel, which is off putting to say ... (read more) 1.5/5.0

Glico 牧場しぼり Affogato Ice Cream: These little ice cream cups, about the standard size of paper-cup ice cream snacks you'd get as a kid in the states, come sealed in plastic packaging. The affogato flavor consisted of milk ice cream surrounded along the perimeter and at the base with an espresso-flavored ice, whose consistency was somewhere between shaved ice and bruleed sugar. Overall, it was decently enjoyable, in the way that normal store-bought ice cream has a familiar but comforting taste. 3.0/5.0

Gomaya Kuki Sesame Ice Cream: This is a rare spot I had actually bookmarked before arriving in Japan in my search for top ice cream shops. At Gomaya Kuki, off of a side street in Shibuya, you have only the choice between black and white sesame ice cream, but each comes in three varieties. For the black sesame, you can choose between triple rich, rich, and salted, while for the white sesame, they have triple rich, rich, and chunky multigrain. I decided to try the triple rich black and chunky multigrain. On the side ar... (read more) 3.0/5.0
