Heaven & Earth Carrot Ginger Juice: While this juice has a bright orange color, the dominant flavor is ginger. It probably falls about 65% in terms of potency, which is to say above average, but not as gingery as I personally like (though I like very gingery drinks) - more spiced than spicy. I wouldn't have guessed that it contained carrot juice if I had not seen its color. Overall, for a four-serving container costing $5, it was pretty good, but not worth purchasing again. 3.0/5.0

Trader Joe's Organic Carrot Juice: I prefer fresh fruit over fruit juice, so I never find myself in the juice aisle. But this quart of carrot juice caught my eye while walking through Trader Joe's, and I'm really glad I gave it a try. It's definitely sweet but has a super fresh and concentrated carrot flavor. The consistency is also thicker than I expected, so it feels substantial and filling to drink. Would definitely buy again. 4.0/5.0

il laboratorio del gelato carrot and beet gelato: I'm all for vegetable-flavored desserts, and given how naturally sweet carrots and beets can be, I was especially excited to try il laboratorio's take. Both flavors were very true to their roots, tasting more fresh than sweet. In particular, the carrot was especially concentrated, tasting of the initial crisp bite of a raw carrot. If I had to choose one, I would go back for the carrot, but the beet was still delicious though milder. Both scoops were not entirely smooth, so the texture co... (read more) 4.0/5.0

Galvanina Blood orange, black carrot, and blueberry sparkling fruit beverage: Organic Italian soda that apparently is sold as Whole Foods branded Italian soda. I purchased this glass bottle from Molinari deli in North Beach, SF (which I also recommend, by the way). While I found it on the sweet side, the addition of carrot was unique and not at all overpowering. The berry, vegetable, and citrus combination is well balanced and worth a try. 3.5/5.0

Pirate's Booty Carrot Snacks: These orange-colored puffs are, at the very least, misleading, and at its worst, a cruel trick I imagine health-conscious parents might play on their children. Designed to look exactly like cheese puffs, the carrot snacks have no cheese flavor, instead tasting vaguely sweet and distinctly vegetal. They are by no means a replacement for cheese puffs, as they lack the satisfying fat content and sharp flavor you might expect. It's hard to overcome this fact, yet I will give Pirate's Booty cre... Bitsy's Brainfood Zucchini Gingerbread Carrot Smart Cookies: This brand of snacks was started by two moms looking for healthier options for their growing kids. I purchased the bag from Berkeley Bowl not knowing what to expect – I really like gingerbread, but I absolutely hate zucchini. Luckily, the crunchy alphabet-shaped cookies ended up being delicious and taste much more like baked goods like carrot cake or zucchini bread than they do of any pure vegetable. Sweetness from the carrots is definitely distinguishable from the molasses, cinnamon, and ... (read more) 4.0/5.0
