Bao Tea House Jasmine peach milk tea: Bao Tea House is a small shop in the West Village close to the West 4th subway stop, and it's my favorite place in the city for tea. Their jasmine peach milk tea was very well balanced, with a fragrant, creamy, floral, and fruity flavor (a combination I imagine most places would not get right). The drink came with brown sugar aloe cubes, with a slightly chewy texture that still has a bit of bite. Zabar's Black and White Cookie: Despite having lived / been around in NYC for most of my life, I had not had a Black and White cookie until this week. I learned from Wikipedia that there are at least two styles of Black and White cookies; a dense shortbread base is common in NYC, while a more cake-like base with frosting is more likely to be found in Central New York. Milk Bar Cereal milk panna cotta: This special cereal milk panna cotta, available at the Flagship Milk Bar in NoMad, is topped with roasted matcha meringue, corn flakes crumble, and dark chocolate shards. It's available just until the end of the day. It's really excellent, a dessert that could easily cost $11 in a restaurant without seeming out of place (it costs a little over $6). Paqui Mucho Nacho CheeseChips: Zingy nacho tortilla chips that have an original blend of seasoning that distinguishes them from ordinary chips. According to the ingredients, it's a mix of buttermilk, garlic powder, paprika, tomato power, cheddar cheese, and "natural spices." The mix gives it a tangy yet slightly creamy flavor that's very enjoyable. Would purchase again. 4.0/5.0

Vermont Sweetwater Bottling Co Sparkling Maple Seltzer: This bottle of soda was purchased from a small cafe in upstate New York (Palenville). Extracted from maple trees, the maple water is weakly carbonated and has a faint sweetness, identifiable as maple, but otherwise largely absent of flavor. Contains no artificial color (the liquid is clear) or artificial flavors - very simply exactly what it states itself to be (maple water). 2.5/5.0

Tan Kim Hock Coconut Cookies: My friend Sher Minn brought these cookies back from Malaysia for me to try - my favorite type of present1 The miniature cookies look like little Cinnabons and are composed of dried shredded coconut mixed with breadcrumbs, egg, sugar. They have a crumbly yet crispy texture and taste purely of toasted coconut. Just sweet enough to be a dessert but easy to eat by the handful. Very tasty! A classic snack since 1967. 4.0/5.0
