I Heart Keenwah Sweet chili puffs : Perfectly spherical quinoa-based balls that have a denser, crunchier texture than regular corn puffs. The sweet chili leaves a pleasantly light spice and builds pretty quickly. If you're looking for a slightly healthier cheese-puff alternative, you could do much worse than I Heart Keenwah, though the serving size is surprisingly small. 3.0/5.0

Snikkidy Organic Mac N' Cheese Baked Puffs: Formed by two moms who wanted snacks they felt good giving their kids, Snikiddy is extremely on brand for the Park Slope Food Coop. The cheese puffs are organic, contain no high fructose corn syrup, no hydrogenated oils, and no GMO ingredients. Upon first taste, they seemed pretty bland to be honest, with a very light cheese flavor that tasted like health food. After a few more pieces, the cheese factor slightly cumulated to the point that it was vaguely reminiscent of mac and cheese, but... (read more) 3.0/5.0

Tohato Tsumamel Deep Cheese Puffs: Tohato caramel corn (and it's other sweet seasonal flavors) always stand out on the shelves with their cute packaging. I've tried a few flavors both in the states and in Japan, but I recently learned there's a savory line of flavors called Tsumamel, which includes flavors like corn potage, fried chicken, and this deep cheese flavor. The curled corn puffs are like miniature Jaxx cheese snacks you can get in America, but this cheese powder is a combination of both cheddar and Camembert. You c... (read more) 3.0/5.0

Barbara's White Cheddar Cheese Puffs: More airy than Cheetos, Barbara's Cheese Puffs have a very mild cheddar flavor that is one of the least distinctive I've had. As a result, they are among the least satisfying of this junk-food classic. If you're looking for a healthier version of cheese puffs, these may be the ones. But you then have to ask yourself, what's the point? 2.5/5.0

Fuller Foods Seriously Cheesy Puffs Sriracha flavored baked cheese puffs: Hand crafted artisanal cheese puffs made in Portland, Oregon. Sounds like a Portlandia sketch, but true story. The cheese puffs are thinner and longer than typical cheese puffs, like 1.5x the volume of a Cheetos puff. Sriracha flavored puffs have a dark red orange coating. Spicy flavor builds up quickly. Lacks the familiar sweetness of Sriracha, and tastes less like the Asian hot sauce and more like a stronger western one. Texture is very good - crispy yet airy, but flavor is quite frankly s... Vegan Rob's Probiotic Cauliflower Puffs: I purchased this vegan snack from my local Key Foods supermarket. I didn't inspect the packaging very carefully before buying, so I missed the probiotic part and was merely attracted to the idea of having a cauliflower-based snack (and trying a brand I hadn't seen before). Looking at the ingredients list now, I see the inclusion of inulin and Bacillus Goagulans, both used to support digestion and otherwise help you poop. I can't say that I noticed much of a difference in my bowel movement,... (read more) 2.5/5.0
