18 Rabbits Organic Peanut, Almond and Coconut Gracious Granola: There's a game I like to play at Berkeley Bowl that I call "Is it worth it?" Is that bag of cheese puffs so good to warrant $5 a bag? Is that bag of Granola actually worth $7? That's the question I asked when I purchased this San Francisco-based brand of granola that contains oats, almonds and pecans, and pumpkin seeds and is flavored with maple syrup and coconut. It isn't too sweet, but it has a rich, buttery flavor (and the fat content to prove it). Opening the bag releases a fragrant c... (read more) 3.0/5.0

4505 Smokehouse BBQ Fried Pork Rinds: From San Francisco-based 4505 BBQ is a line of flavored pork rinds that I've seen both at Whole Foods and Berkeley Bowl. If their Smokehouse BBQ is indicative of the quality of their restaurant, I'm definitely interested. The chicharrones are some of the lightest I've had in any packaged form, and the flavor is smoky in just the right quantity. It has a subtle sweet aftertaste yet is deeply savory at its core. 4.0/5.0

Amande Peach Cultured Almondmilk: On appearance, this vegan yogurt looks familiar, with a peach-colored hue and cubes of peach fruit throughout. When you take your first spoonful, though, you'll immediately sense this is a different product, with a consistency much thinner than normal (I would describe it as resembling a thin soup). The taste is also distinct but will be familiar if you enjoy drinking almond milk: it's nutty and rich. Flavor-wise, I actually liked the combination of almond milk with peaches, though the te... Arrowhead Mills Gluten Free Maple Buckwheat Flakes: As far as healthy "adult" cereal goes, these buckwheat flakes are some of the best I've had. The maple glaze makes them just sweet enough, and they keep their crunchy consistently longer than any other flakes I know of. I like eating them on their own with milk, though if you wanted more sweetness, I'm sure their recommendation of fresh fruit would do the job as well. While I'm usually skeptical of gluten free foods, these flakes don't seem to be lacking at all. 4.0/5.0

Back to Nature Triple Ginger Cookies: Purchased on sale at Berkeley Bowl, these cookies incorporate ginger powder, crystallized ginger, and ginger extract (hence the "triple"). Decent basic ginger snap cookies that are crunchy without being a danger to your teeth. 3.0/5.0

Back to the Roots Biodynamic Cinnamon Clusters: This boxed cereal comes in a milk carton and is composed of just four ingredients: stoneground whole wheat, cinnamon, salt, and cane sugar. The cereal is orecchiette shaped, and the stoneground whole wheat gives it a unique irregular texture in the same way that bronze dies do for pasta. It has a great spiced flavor and stays crunchy in milk. One of the best cereals I've had in some time. 4.5/5.0
