Fujiya Nectar peach drink: This can of peach juice is not carbonated and has a consistency thicker than most vending machine beverages. It is extremely sweet and reminds me of peach-flavored hard candies I had growing up from the Asian supermarket. It's a classic drink, but overall I found it to be pretty average. 2.5/5.0

Zeitaku Kajitsu White Peach & Yogurt: This is a white peach yogurt that contains pieces of peach fruit. I like it more than American peach yogurt, but not so much more - it's fairly neutral and does the job, but it's not the most interesting yogurt on the shelves. 3.0/5.0

Morinaga Peach yogurt with aloe cubes: I was surprised how much I enjoy the yogurt with aloe cubes, which is both sweet and tart. This peach flavored one is pretty good too, but I prefer the original; the peach flavor is kind of a generic peach, similar to Yoplait, and is sweeter than the original, which throws the balance off a bit. If you are interested in trying yogurt with aloe, I'd go for the classic. 3.0/5.0

Chanmery Peach Soda: Chanmery is like the Japanese equivalent of Martinelli's, meant to be a celebratory champagne-equivalent drink for kids. Its main innovation is a "twist and pop cap" that's both threaded and depressed such that opening it leads the built-up pressure of the bottle to push the cap upward, emitting a satisfying pop sound not unliking uncorking a bottle of champagne. The bottle has just enough for about 2 servings, which is to say quite small. The peach soda has a strong fruit flavor that is ... (read more) 3.0/5.0

Vivit's Peach Mix Soda: This was a vending machine purchase made out of dehydration. In the US, I had solely associated Ito En with calorie-free bottles of ice tea, but they own a wide variety of brands of sweet drinks in Japan. This one is extremely sweet and reminds me a lot of ramune, but tasting of peach instead of pear. It's also very fizzy and one of the more carbonated drinks I've had here. Maybe it's the nostalgia of drinking ramune as a kid, but I really liked this one, even though I could tell it was ... (read more) 4.0/5.0

Bao Tea House Jasmine peach milk tea: Bao Tea House is a small shop in the West Village close to the West 4th subway stop, and it's my favorite place in the city for tea. Their jasmine peach milk tea was very well balanced, with a fragrant, creamy, floral, and fruity flavor (a combination I imagine most places would not get right). The drink came with brown sugar aloe cubes, with a slightly chewy texture that still has a bit of bite. Though it's an entirely different type of dish, the closest analogy I can make in terms of textu... (read more) 4.0/5.0
