Powder Ube shaved ice with mochi and condensed milk: This is the third flavor I've had from Powder, a Taiwanese shaved ice shop in San Francisco. The first, black sesame, was excellent, with a light texture but creamy flavor. The second, matcha, had a great green tea flavor but was more dense in texture. This last one was, unfortunately, the worst texturally, which is apparent from just the image itself - the starchy potato may have made it harder to achieve the same airy consistency that the black sesame ice had. Bubble Tease Milk tea with boba: Toronto has some of the highest concentration of bubble tea shops that I’ve witnessed. This classic black milk tea from Bubble Tease had a decent sweet and slightly herbal flavor. The boba was ok - a bit too soft and without flavor. 3.0/5.0

iTea wintermelon milk tea with grass jelly: I ordered this drink out of curiosity, but the wintermelon didn’t have too much of a distinct flavor compared to regular black milk tea. The herbal grass jelly was very good as always, though Purchased at I-Tea in Kearny in SF. 3.0/5.0

Sweetheart Cafe Almond milk tea with boba: Every few months, I stop by Sweetheart Cafe for their preternaturally chewy boba, despite the fact that I’ve never had a particularly good drink here. This time, I waited patiently in line after a group of Cal students arrived for their bubble tea fix at 10pm (the busiest I’ve seen the place, though now that I think about it, I’ve only ever gone there at night). Noosa Blood orange whole milk yogurt: I like blood oranges but most blood orange flavored snacks tend to remind me of artificial orange candy. This Noosa yogurt was not one of my favorites, with an orange sherbet taste that is overly sweet. The yogurt by itself is good quality though - rich and creamy. 3.0/5.0
