Brooklyn Crafted Mango ginger beer: I was hopeful about this fruit-flavored ginger beer, which I found at Brooklyn Fare in downtown Brooklyn. Purchased in a set of four bottles, the apricot-tinted drink contains bits of ginger sediments throughout. Sadly, the soda drank very sweet, reminding me of generic fruit-flavored gelatin snacks you can get from Asian grocery stores in the candy aisle. The ginger flavor was faintly present, mostly visually rather than in taste. 2.5/5.0

Brooklyn Soda Works lemon and thyme soda: About five years ago, I had a fantastic bottled apple ginger soda from Brooklyn Soda Works at a restaurant in NYC. Brown Sugar Cafe homemade limeonade: An excellent refreshing drink that is tart and acidic but not overpoweringly so. Great for hot weather. Perfect level of sweetness. A pleasant surprise that it's carbonated. 4.5/5.0

Bruce Cost blood orange and Meyer lemon ginger ale: I'm a fan of the regular Bruce Cost ginger ale, so I was happy to find a limited edition citrus version. Despite shaking the bottle beforehand, I found the flavor to be weak on the top but much more potent on the bottom. The citrus flavor was nonetheless refreshing, and the ginger left a pleasant tingly feeling in my throat. That's when you know it's good. 3.5/5.0
