Akagi Gari Garikun Ice Candy Soda Popsicles: These are popular soda-flavored popsicles that taste like a combination of Sprite and Ramune, with a slight pear flavor but mostly tasting of sugar. It has an ice-blue color and is sized just like fruit popsicles in America. Overall, it's so-so - something you might like as a kid but not particularly interesting or delicious as an adult. 3.0/5.0

Coca-Cola Frozen Coke : This Coca-Cola comes in a pouch that you're meant to freeze to enjoy a frozen Coke treat. There are other snacks in Japan that have this type of packaging, like the Coolish soft serve ice cream I reviewed a few weeks ago. You're supposed to completely freeze the package and then let it thaw for about 15-20 minutes before consuming, but I bought it in the refrigerated section at the grocery store, let it freeze at home until it was like soft slushie-like consistency, and then took it out of... Denroku Porippy Spicy Peanut Snack: I found these peanut snacks in what seemed to be the bar snack section, with a variety of nuts and dried seafood. I've had versions of this snack before in rice cracker mixes; it consists of a crispy rice cracker coating surrounding a single roasted peanut. It has a very unique sweet and savory quality, with a mix of seasonings and flavorings including honey and nori. Very tasty and affordable! Would definitely buy again. 4.0/5.0

Hakkaisan Purple Amasake: This is a sweet drink made with fermented purple rice, giving it its distinctive color. I tried the regular version made from white rice rice previously in Brooklyn (by way of Japan), but without trying both side-by-side, it's hard for me to say if the flavors are different. I can say that this beverage has a nice acidity and natural sweetness that comes from the koji rice itself (no sugar is added), and it's a fresh refreshing drink. I don't know if most people would enjoy the acidity, b... (read more) 3.5/5.0

Hokunyu Mandarin Orange Yogurt: This is one of my favorite yogurts that I've tried in Japan. Available in normal grocery stores, it is a tart and creamy yogurt containing whole mandarin orange slices. A very interesting combination of soft yogurt with juicy fruit that I hadn't had before. Highly recommend! 4.0/5.0

Hokunyu Fruit Yogurt: Combining peach and pineapple with nata de coco (coconut pieces), this is sort of like a fruit cup combined with yogurt. It has a sort of tropical, Continental breakfast fruit cocktail flavor which is not really great but not bad either. Not a yogurt I would go for again, though it's not bad per se. 3.0/5.0
