Awan Coffee Chocolate Chip Ice Cream: Awan is a vegan ice cream shop with a small "window" in West Hollywood where you can take scoops / pints to go. I'm not normally one to get coffee or chocolate ice cream, but after sampling a few flavors, the coffee chocolate chip was the clear winner to me. The texture is remarkably smooth and creamy for vegan ice cream, and the coffee flavor was toasty and rich, with chips of chocolate chip that had a quality snap in texture. Kiddie size was perfect even for sharing. 4.0/5.0

Donut Hut Coffee donut: Donut Hut is a brightly colored red and yellow striped to-go shop that on first glance looks like a local hot dog stand. They specialize in no-fuss donuts in a variety of flavors, made old school and at friendly, old school prices (cash only, about a dollar each). This cinnamon donut, glazed with crumbles of cinnamon reminiscent of ground coffee cake, was perfectly fluffy and risen, sweet but just the right amount of sweet. Definitely worth a visit if you find yourself in Burbank. 4.0/5.0

Emial Tapiocatime Royal Latte: My sleep has been terrible, with jetlag and the world burning down, so I've been relying on caffeinated beverages more than normal. On my way to lab, I purchased this tapioca drink from 7-11. It's an iced coffee, very sweet, that contains gelatinous balls that aren't quite like normal starchy and chewy tapioca but have a unique texture all its own that I surprisingly enjoyed. It reminds me a little bit of a more chewy jellyfish, which I know is not the most appetizing comparison but the cl... (read more) 3.5/5.0

Brooklyn Born Chocolate Cafe Au Lait: I'm a bit overwhelmed by the chocolate aisle at the Park Slope Food Coop, both because I generally don't buy chocolate, so there's a lot I haven't tried, and their selection seems much more varied than any other grocery store I've been to. This bar is actually prepared in Rahway, NJ, despite the Brooklyn Bridge logo and brand name suggesting otherwise. It's made of white chocolate that's been dyed to look like regular milk chocolate, and it has a nice roasted coffee flavor. You can tell t... (read more) 3.0/5.0

Blue Bottle New Orleans Cold Brew: I don't drink coffee at all, but I know that San Franciscans can be snobs when it comes to that sort of thing. I brought my parents to Blue Bottle, a local favorite, so they could see for themselves and then decided to get an iced coffee for myself to try. The coffee was honestly a bit watered down compared to what I was expecting, though it wasn't overly sweet or milky. I got a headache after drinking the entire cup – though this doesn't affect the score. 3.0/5.0

Smari New Orleans Coffee Organic Icelandic Yogurt: I finally purchased this brand of icelandic-style yogurt, and since I now wake up earlier and tend to eat yogurt for breakfast, I thought I would combine a bit of caffeine into my morning routine (without having to actually brew coffee). The rich whole milk yogurt is not as thick as Siggi's or Fage but also creamier and smoother, with specks of coffee bean throughout. The coffee flavor itself is excellent – slightly bitter and not too sweet. Definitely one of the most memorable yogurts I'... (read more) 4.0/5.0
