Luna & Larry's Coconut Bliss coconut almond in chocolate dessert: Haven't had a chocolate-covered ice cream bar in ages but my newly lactose-free dad was craving ice cream, and these coconut-based non-dairy bars were on sale at Whole Foods. Its dark chocolate coating is mixed with chopped almonds, and the whole product is organic. Overall, a really good quality product. Isn't overly rich (like a Haagen Dazs) but still decadent. Classic coconut + chocolate flavor combination. Would eat over most other ice cream bars, non dairy or otherwise. 4.0/5.0

Nairn's Chocolate chip oat grahams: Lightly sweetened Scottish biscuits. The box contains four packs of individually wrapped snack packs (each with four oval-shaped biscuits). They're like Belvita breakfast crackers, but good - the oats maintain some of their texture even in biscuit form, and the chocolate flavor is just enough to feel like a treat. Strikes a balance between healthy and tasty. 4.0/5.0

Summerdown Mint Chocolate Peppermint Creams: I bought these chocolates from the English-focused Chelsea Market shop Chelsea Market Baskets as a holiday present. They're kind of like peppermint patties on steroids, with a very satisfying, thick dark chocolate shell and potent mint filling, slightly chewy and somewhat viscous. It's made using English Black Mitcham peppermint, and you can taste the quality. It cost a little over $10 for a box of 16 pieces, easily enough to share. 4.0/5.0

KitKat Yuzu kitkat: There's a small KitKat shop in Ginza. I'm not sure if it's the main one because I've seen more KitKats in a room in most malls here, but they did have them individually packaged in nice collector cases. They were pretty pricey, a $3 for a single KitKat (not even the type you break in two, which I thought was a defining characteristic given the jingle but apparently not in Japan). I purchased the most interesting looking one: Yuzu. It's actually very good: sour and tart, like a lemon flavore... (read more) 4.0/5.0

Lopez Island Mint chocolate ice cream: We’ve had some hot weekends in Seattle and I had a sudden craving for mint ice cream the other day, so I decided to treat myself to a new brand I hadn’t tried before. Lopez Island Creamery is based in Anacortes, WA, which I only know from PW Elverum & Sun, and makes, according to the packaging “handmade ice cream one batch at a time.” The ice cream is pure white in color and features bite sized chocolate chips (not the shaved chocolate you sometimes get with this classic flavor). It was exa... (read more) 4.0/5.0

Awan Coffee Chocolate Chip Ice Cream: Awan is a vegan ice cream shop with a small "window" in West Hollywood where you can take scoops / pints to go. I'm not normally one to get coffee or chocolate ice cream, but after sampling a few flavors, the coffee chocolate chip was the clear winner to me. The texture is remarkably smooth and creamy for vegan ice cream, and the coffee flavor was toasty and rich, with chips of chocolate chip that had a quality snap in texture. Kiddie size was perfect even for sharing. 4.0/5.0
