Woongjin barley tea: A Korean chilled tea that is perfect for the summer heat. No calories or sugar, but is slightly sweet and had a deep herbal flavor. Begins very mild but has a robust aftertaste. Thirst quenching and very refreshing. 3.5/5.0

Boba Guys lavender black milk tea with grass jelly: This distinct beverage had a clean lavender flavor without tasting too floral, or like soap as poorly balanced lavender-flavored things tend to. Though I ordered the drink with 50% sweetness, I found it to be on the sweet side. (I think they might sweeten the drinks more than the NYC location, as I've had the opposite impression there.) The flavor and texture of the homemade grass jelly was excellent, but it was difficult to suck up through a normal boba straw. 3.5/5.0

Andy & Cindy Thai Cuisine's Thai Iced Tea: Available at Berkeley's Saturday farmers market, this refreshing beverage is mixed to order, transforming a decently strong cup of black tea into a familiarly Garfield shade of orange as soon as the dairy is mixed in. Very sweet, but a nice companion for strolling through the market on a beautiful day. 3.5/5.0

Sweetgreens Iced Chai: Up to this point, I had been resistant to the ~$15 salads at Sweetgreens, but after returning to Berkeley after traveling, I often crave fresh fruit and vegetables. I caved in and stopped by Sweetgreens for a salad (which was actually filling and quite tasty) and purchased a cup of iced chai to accompany my greens. Sweetheart Cafe Jasmine milk tea with boba: Sweetheart Cafe is a small bubble tea shop on Durant right on the south edge of UC Berkeley's main campus. The main draw to this inexpensive mom and pop shop is their boba, which as far as I'm concerned is unrivaled in the Bay Area for its chewiness and overall consistency. The Jasmine milk tea that I purchased alongside the boba had an identifiable Jasmine tea flavor but was more milk than tea.
