IKEA Dryck Julmust: IKEA describes it as a "Swedish festive drink" (though it seems slightly out of season to be selling in October). The drink has a dark cola color and does taste a little similar but with a more nuanced spiced flavor (the ingredients include malt, and I got a bit of clove and cinnamon). It's also far less sweet than Coke or Pepsi. If I could pick a cola-like beverage to drink during the holidays, this would be it. (In my haste to buy furniture for my new place, I forgot to photograph the ... (read more) 4.0/5.0

La Nostra Gazzosa: A sparkling lemon beverage from Italy that is more like a concentrated, flavored seltzer than a sugary soda, which I far prefer. Though it has 28g of sugar, it's still less sweet than most bottled sodas in the US - just enough sweetness, in my opinion. The drink has a slightly savory aftertaste as seltzer sometimes does along with a refreshingly acidic lemon taste. Good level of carbonation. Altogether, a unique and worthwhile drink. 4.0/5.0

Sidral Mundet Apple soda: Bottled Mexican apple-flavored soda with a rich caramel color. Tastes remarkably of fresh Apple juice without being overly sweet. Lightly carbonated. I like it just S much as Apple Sidra, and more so than sparkling Martinelli's. 4.0/5.0

East Imperial Grapefruit Soda: This small batch soda comes in an equally small mixer-sized 5 fl oz container, which is just a tad less than a bottle of Q soda or Fever Tree. Using ingredients from Asia and produced in New Zealand, the soda uses all natural ingredients and has a concentrated citrus flavor that tastes of pure grapefruit. The carbonation consists of small but impactful bubbles; if you take a sip and pause before imbibing, your mouth becomes awash with pops of fizz. The soda was created in collaboration wi... Bec Cola Organic Cola with Maple Syrup: Bec is a Montreal-based soda company whose original product is the Bec Cola pictured here. It contains just a few recognizable ingredients: carbonated water, organic maple syrup, sugar, citric acid, and cola flavour. Typically, I find maple syrup-based drinks to be overly sweet, but this one is very judicious - it contains 27g of sugar, so it's sweet but not too sweet, and it tastes first of cola with just a finish of rich maple syrup flavor. Definitely recommend! 4.0/5.0

Vivit's Peach Mix Soda: This was a vending machine purchase made out of dehydration. In the US, I had solely associated Ito En with calorie-free bottles of ice tea, but they own a wide variety of brands of sweet drinks in Japan. This one is extremely sweet and reminds me a lot of ramune, but tasting of peach instead of pear. It's also very fizzy and one of the more carbonated drinks I've had here. Maybe it's the nostalgia of drinking ramune as a kid, but I really liked this one, even though I could tell it was ... (read more) 4.0/5.0
